I know this may sound too butally honest but here it goes...

It actually depends on what your bridesmaids look like. I mean sure, the color and style of dresses should always go with your wedding theme. But how pretty your bridesmaids are is what should be your biggest consideration when picking dress length. I mean pantyhose, stockings, or tights can help and is recommended for any weather for a wedding. But no one wants to see the legs of an ugly girl, even if she has nice legs but an ugly face, blood-related or not.

So I say look at your bridal party as a whole. If one, two, or most of them are not up to par in the modeling department, then you will want to go with ankle length. Also, I would use this chart to help you decide on length.

If they are all
1) Under 27
2) Hot, Pretty, or both
3) Have nice legs
Go with above the knee length

If not all of them meet those requirements, go with ankle length. Ofcourse, if you bridal party consists of a mixed bunch. Such as a 16 y/o teen, a 22 y/o college student, and a 36 y/o woman... then you have a problem. The older woman, being older, wiser, and more conservative, will look better with a longer length complimenting her age. Yet a younger girl will look too conservative and out of place with an ankle length dress.

So its really Age and Looks as well as how they are as a whole is how you factor it all in. Thats my opinion. Congrats.

I would probably suggest going with short dresses due to the typical warm weather in Dallas during the summer. I had a July wedding in PA and had the girls wearing long strapless dresses and they were roasting all day, so I would have went short if I could do it over again.
However, try to make them a slightly different length then your own, remember you are suppose to shine in the photos. Maybe go with a dress that is cut at an angle so their is a visual difference with the dresses.

Good luck and congrats on your wedding!

personally i feel that bridesmaids should wear long dresses (mine are) but since your dress is a shorter length, it may look a little off to have your party wearing floor length. a shorter length (possibly cocktail) would easily fit into a summer wedding since many guests will wear knee length dresses as well, opposed to winter where long dresses and pants are more common.

Short dresses, especially if your dress is tea length. Long dresses are usually for more formal affairs or autum/winter weddings. But in the end, do what you want to do and what you want to see in your photographs for the rest of your life. Congrats and good luck!

The bridesmaids dresses should be the same shape & length as the brides...it looks great in pictures when things match like that.

If you are in a tea length dress the other girls should wear a tea length as well as the moms of the bride and groom.

Darling, it is your wedding ceremony. you should do in spite of the hell you want. i have considered wedding ceremony pictures from a wedding ceremony the position the bride determined she needed all of her bouquets made from newspaper. once you're apprehensive about uniformity, they are all a similar colour, so i imagine it will seem tremendous. If something, you may have the lengthy clothing hemmed shorter. fairly some women individuals those days are very in touch in that seem, the "it suits, even if it doesn't" seem. Decor for tables at activities i have been to lately has been that way. each of the vases in the room are a similar colour, yet categories and sizes. Congrats on getting married :) i wish you've a lengthy satisfied marriage.

congrats! i'm getting married in july in dallas.
i think bridesmaid dresses should compliment not compete with the brides dress. that being said. if your bridesmaids wear long dresses, it will make your dress stand out that much more....because of the contrast.
whereas, if they were short dresses it might compete with the style of your dress...
i say go for long bridesmaid dresses.

That all depends,
Have you asked your bridesmaids what their preferences are? As for my bridesmaids, what I did was select different dress styles that I liked and showed it to them. I was lucky, they all picked the same style of dress, and all I had to do was pick their color... I have big girls as bridesmaids and one who's slim in figure. but the dresses I chose flattered both body types.
That's just my opinion, hope it helps :)

Since your dress is tea lenght, I would have them wear tea length. But it's up to you. My girls are wearing tea length but I am wearing a long dress so it is entirely up to you
