If your bird is biting, be gentle with them. Tell them to stop in a gentle way. If they are still being ferocius towards yur hand, there are several things you can get for him to bite. Here is a list of things I use on my bird when she is mad and biting me

I give her a preening stick so she has something interactive to play with

I give her a thick piece of fabric she can bite

I give her a white piece of paper so she can make holes in it and have fun at the same time

I give her a cuttle bone to bite

If all this fails, simply leave him alone for a while so he can calm down.

I agree about the ignoring him when he bites. Being away from the flock is a punishment because most birds are very social animals.

Tell him sternly, "No. Bad bird. No biting." I like saying "No biting" so they I can always say that when they bite so they know what they're doing wrong as opposed to when I say "no" when they're, I don't know, kicking me. ???

Praise him for being good. If you have a good holding session, give him a treat. Let him know that you're very impressed with what a good boy he is.

Another thing is, has your bird just hit sexual maturity? This can cause a major turn around in birds' behavior and some need to be trained all over again.

And if you're not spending enough time with him, that may be why too. You have to keep up his training. It never stops.

If your keet is usually friendly and doesnt bite, it might be starting to moult. Its when feathers fall out, and new ones grow in....This makes the birds itchy and a little uncomfortable, and they usually dont like to be touched unless youre "itching their scratch". It might also be afrid of your hand if its not hand trained, and is scared of your hand, but it seems like he would be hand trained, because you say he is friendly too....If a bird bites you, do not hit it, it will make your bird feel more scared or threatened. Also do not use water sprays because they need baths, and you want to teach them that water is FUN! If he bites you, sternly tell him no...if done again, put him in his cage and cover him. This takes him away from his flock (you) and the outside world, which will help him calm down and feel lonely which ultimately is the biggest punishment for keets. Also you can get a spray called 'apple bitter' spray...its a spray you can put on your hands that tastes bitter to a keet, so when he bites, he will taste it, and then he wont want to bite your hands cuz they taste gross.

Never dicipline a bird, they don't understand anyway what you are telling them they are doing wrong, or they think it is breeding season and they are trying to get their "competition" away.

Biting is telling you that the bird is not comfortable with something you are doing. It is a way to get you to stop.

Do not pull away. Gently push into the bite and say "No." Try to figure out the pattern of biting. Is it only late at night and the bird is tired? Is it in the cage area? Is it when you are holding something that the bird wants? There is a trigger, you will have to observe and see what it is.

wait and spot. each and every of the solutions thuis some distance seem to have some great advice. yet, if this merely began, he may be dealing with a area. Ours does that merely till now he starts molting. merely gets agitated and moody. It is going away in days. save loving him and giving him advantageous encouragement! Don;t fuss at him while he bites, yet compliment him while he does no longer.

if u handle him more often he will get use to human touch. Sometimes its surprising for him to see something he doesnt see that much. Good Luck.
