i'm trying to upload it via ftp but since there are too many files it takes too long to upload... and i read about it somewhere that there is another way to upload them in a fast way.just can't find the source now.

if you don't know the answer, can someone at least tell me if there will be a difference if i disable "passive mode" on my ftp manager.

I'm too lazy to type out a full answer to this question. Instead I'll tell you to go read the answers in the Joomla forums. http://forum.joomla.org/ You do not need to be uploading a whole bunch of files.

Passive settings in ftp, off or on will make no difference to your transfer rate, that is controlled by the server you are sending to and your own connection.

go read the Joomla forums and download the help file.

well if you have shell access there, upload it zipped or tarred. The problem is that joomla has like 1000 small little files that require opening and closing a ftp transaction for each one. FTP is not efficient at that. Otherwise, you are just going to have to wait.
