Yes, pet fleas will bite humans, but they do not "live" on either one. Fleas must have a blood meal to reproduce. They bite and leave.
If you have fleas on your pet and they are an indoor animal, you first need to treat the pet, and may possibly need to treat the premises, since fleas burrow into your carpet, under baseboards, and other crevices where eggs can lay for months before hatching, such as over the winter.
Some of the most used pet products include Program, which contains a flea hormone that prevents the shells of their eggs from hardening and then hatching. This is a pill for dogs and a liquid for cats that is given with a full meal. However, it does not kill the adults that are present, and something else should be done about those.
Other owners prefer either Advantage or Revolution, which goes on the back of their neck and/or down the spine. This works its way through the fur and kills any fleas on the animal for up to a month. It remains active even after baths, although its effect may be reduced. Revolution in particular also takes care of worms, mites and other nasties.
For a flea infestation, the animals should be treated with an "immediate kill" remedy, given long term preventatives, and the premises treated with a good quality pesticide from your vet. The ones sold over the counter in pet stores are largely ineffective.

Yes they can. My pet cat and dog had flees and liked to stay in a certain room. Well the flees got into the carpet and you couldn't step onto it without getting you ankle covered in black little biting dots. They won't live on you but they do bite.

Yes, fleas can and will jump onto humans. I work for a veterinary hospital and it happens quite often. My cats are on frontline plus all year so if the fleas jump from me or my clothes to my cats, the fleas will die once they bite them. Fleas don't really like human blood though, often times they will not stay on a human for long. They like animal blood the best. Just make sure that your animals are treated with some kind of flea killer. And typically the cheap stuff that you can buy from Wal-Mart for 10 bucks will not work. Go with a name brand, I prefer frontline because it also protects them from ear mites and internal parasites.

Yes they certainly can - but they won't stick around on the human - just bite and run.
If you have a flea problem - go to WAR !!
Hit them on all fronts !
Get a "squirt on the back of the neck" flea AND tick repellent. You can waste lots of money and get it from the vet - or go smart - and get one from the pet Dept. of Wal-Mart
If its a dog - sprinkle Garlic POWDER (NOT garlic SALT) on it's food.
Give the dog a bath - I do NOT recommend Flea Dip - get a Flea Comb (2 bucks or so)... comb the fleas out while dog is wet.
The little you-know-whats will come back out of your bath tub drain !!! Toss some Clorox down drain after dog is out -- teach 'em a lesson!!
Now you've got fleas off the animal - and loose in your house ! Get a carpet flea killer powder. Get something safe you can use on your bed, etc.
Get Citronella Oil - put some into any body lotion - put it on YOU - til the war is over.
Good luck.

Pet fleas will jump onto humans but they won't actually live on humans.. they have a little nibble on you, stop for a snack then hop off into the carpet or on to the next poor, unfortunate animal walking past!

Absolutely!!
Fleas are happy to hop on and chomp on anything warm. Fur or no fur.
When I had three indoor cats I went through a round of "infestation" during the summer months and my ankles stayed red just above the sock line from the bites. I ended it with treatment from a powdered product called "Flea Stoppers" you dust onto the carpet and furniture.

yes. Fleas can cause alot of annoyance. Make sure your animals are treated regularly with frontline from the vets and treat your carpets and furniture once a week.
They can't live on on humans but can def bite! They will live on your animals but they're eggs can be all over the house.

Dog & cat fleas are different species, but quite happily take blood from other mammals.
They don't live on the pet, but in the bedding or carpet or wherever the pet sleeps. Their eggs hatch to larvae that eat dead skin, etc. The fleas hop on to a mammal for a meal, then hop off again.

Yes they can but they won't stay on you and make their home on you. They might bite you but thats all you have to worry about. Give your animals front line if they have flees because the cheap brands dont work as well so its better to use front line.
