Yes, high stress levels cause the heart to pump blood much faster through the body and can cause a heart attack. I would advise seeing a doctor as soon as possible, if you have any feeling that it could be even somewhat serious.

Anxiety can cause a person to experience Tachycardia, (accelerated heart beat). When your heart beat rises over about 170ish beats per minute for a sustained period, the pumping action is affected and the distribution of oxygen is diminished. If it continues for too long, you can experience arrhythmia, which sometimes results in a lethal rhythm. It's NOT common, but can sometimes happen.
You should check this out with your doctor and have him/her order a Holter Monitor and (depending on your age) an Exercise Tolerance Test (Stress test).
The holter is a 24 hour recording of every heart beat. The tech will hook you up to a portible recording device and you'll go home and come back the same time the next day for disconnection. Every beat is analyzed and a report is sent to your GP.
The Stress Test is a treadmill test to see if your tachycardia can be induced for assessment, and see that your oxygen level in your heart isn't compromised with exertion.
If your heart rate is affecting your oxygen distribution, or resulting in arrhythmias, they can prescribe a med to control the rate.
In the mean time, learn to relax!! It could save your life down the line.

Yes and it can also affect your heart rhythm. My last marriage was so horrid in the end that one evening my heart started to beat without rhythm. Over the next days it would even stop for a few seconds then thump hard and out of control. It has been 2 years since my stay in the hospital and my moving out and still occasionally acts up. Usually after a fight with the ex or having to listen to her and my daughter fight, either over the phone or in person.
Get checked out by a doctor, they will probably prescribe some beta blockers to lower the anxiety affects. But you need to get to the bottom of what is causing your anxiety and do something about that before you are watching the grass grow, from below.
Good luck

It can lead to a heart attack in time. This is certain. I don't know what gad is. If your heart rate is too fast you need to visit a cardiologist and see what it wrong. After you see a doctor and it is OK, vigorous daily exercise will lower your heart rate, mine dropped 20 beats per minute.

Anxiety leads to stress, which can cause a heart attack if you have too much of it.
