I want to start drinking the new Gatorade A.M. in the morning with a banana or apple almost everyday..

Is that healthy or should I pick another drink?

Please don't say water, I want something that tastes good!

Maybe some fresh orange juice? Or apple juice?

You need some protein in the morning, not just more carbohydrates. The meal plan above is very heavy on carbs and sugars. You'll get a quick jolt and then be left flat and hungry an hour later with this approach.

I would skip the Gatorade (which is just sugars, sodium and water with a few minerals) and instead opt for a scoop of whey protein in a glass of skim milk with that banana or apple. If you are pressed for time, there are protein drinks prepackaged and ready to drink as well. I've included some links below. These are just to show you some of the options -- you will want to shop around online because prices vary.

In terms of ready-to-drink protein drinks, I really like the Isopure drinks. I believe GNC carries them. They are come in fruit flavors and do not have the creamy taste of most powders. They are pretty unique and very good.

In terms of whey protein powders, Optimum Nutritions 100% Whey in double-rich chocolate is very good, especially mixed with skim milk. Nice, natural chocolate flavor that's easy to digest.

Bottom line is the addition of protein will keep you satisfied longer and keep your blood sugar levels stablized. This translates into more even energy levels and less hunger.

Best of luck!

soy milk (non fat)
chai tea with sweetner
make a smoothie with soy milk, protein powder and one fruit choice (banana is a good one, and any berries)
Gatorade has too much sugar and will make you crash around lunch time
