get rid of the excess gas that lingers behind in the abdominal cavity after the surgery is complete? yes i am an adult and not a teenager and i would appreciate genuine honest answers please.

Look over the post-op sheet your doctor sent home with you. If there's not information there about gas, call the hospital or your doctor to see if you can take a mild anti-gas agent, such as the ones given to babies for gas that contain simethicone. They work like magic on fussy babies, too.

Moving around as much as you can and drinking lots of water should help as well as sticking to a non-gassy diet. No cabbage family, hot 'n spicy foods, or greasy take out that will make it worse.

if you are in pain from the gas, which can hurt a lot you can actually take stool softners and pain main meds, plus drink lots of water.

Maalox helped me quite a bit. Walking also seems to help if you are able. Congrats.
