I don't think so...I think it would be a gesture in making everyone get along!

I seriously doubt that Yahoo has or exhibits a "preference" whether it's regarding religion or politics.
Some participants swear otherwise, but I really doubt it.
Yahoo created this "monster" and now it's all but out of control.
Oh, they delete some questions or answers, but on the whole, they need to do some major moderation and housekeeping.
They post "Community Guidelines" and even encourage people to practice them, and then you can see how - in Religion and Politics - abuse and violation are rampant.
The place is a cesspool, with maybe 10% of the questions being legitimate (not baiting) and 10% of the answers having actual value, and not being just more insults and slurs.

Some ask why atheists come here, why others come here, etc.... and I agree it is a pretty dumb question. But it seems to me legitimate to wonder why people who use this forum and spend a fair amount of time in it think it should disappear! Is that not contradictory?
EDIT:
To answer your question, I think they would do away with this forum if nobody was using it. However it appears to be one of the more popular forums, if not the most popular.
Two things people love to argue about are religion and politics.

No because where would the atheists go?
If yahoo answers deleted only the R and S section, I think the reason would be because it was watching over this section and realized there was so many things politically incorrect that they shut it down to save their own skin.

This is the largest forum on YA so why would it be deleted.
It's interesting to note that it is the largest forum. It proves that people are God conscious, and people are in search for the truth! It proves that deep down, they know that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life.

Not necessarily. Being as this is a haven for religious debate, all would suffer and the other sections would be inundated with religious questions.

They are based in Palo Alto just south of San Francisco I think, so are probably pretty liberal. I would guess they are agnostic/moderately atheist, but the creativity of that area doesn't fit well with the idea of censorship.

if people from opposing views can't get along then i think YA should provide separate facilities, everyone should be allowed to have a say.
