Miriam - Exodus 15:20
Huldah - 2 Kings 22:14
Deborah - Judges 4:4
Those are the only ones I know about, there may be more.
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams" Acts 2:17
I hope you don't get all mixed up in the theory that the scriptures were sexist. God has His reasons for doing things and the Bible says He's in charge of setting up kings and such. God is not a respecter of persons, either. Woman are just important as men in God's sight.
Have you ever heard the saying, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world"? God gave woman the most important job in all creation - raising a child correctly. Perhaps women were too busy doing their God given job to have time to be a prophet? :)
What ever the reasons, there were and will be women prophets.

Cyn's right there were female prophets, you won't read as much about them though because it was a completely male dominated society.

because "prophetess" is the word used for a woman who can prophesy. and are you talking about pbuhs, or other prophets? cause Biblically, there were female leaders and prophetesses. I don't think there are female pbuhs
