I got my upper left ear cartilage pierced a month ago but 2 days ago the place where the piercing is, is swelling and reddish but its not hot, its painful when the earring is touch other than that there is no smell or pus, its just swelling and reddish, can somebody help me? coz I really don't know if this is normal or infected, please help me thank you very much.

You need to get it checked. Have you tried the place that pierced it? They might know what's normal and what isn't. I do know that cartilage gets infected easly, and it's very hard to treat. So, if you think it is, the sooner you go into the doc, the better. It can spread and become quite serious.

It sounds infected to me. I would remove the stud and clean the opening with a good antibacterial soap like chlorhexidine. If it does not get less swollen and less painful within a day or so or gets worse, go see your doctor to have a proper evaluation.
