seriously if those godsquads out there can't handle it then i call for a designated section for athiests.
Athiests are discriminated against, out of populus bias, social conditioning, fear, and ignorance.
you christians may think we just want to cause conflict, wrong, we like discussing this stuff, that's how one learns, we have a desire for knowledge, and for a laugh, why be a boring sod who takes things to seriously.
free your selves from those contrived shackles and frolick in the joy of atheism. you don't need to live by some set of rules set by some book. just live and be kind. and have a joke now and then.

Not all non-believers who post to this Forum are hate-mongers. Likewise, some self-professed Christians seem to have wandered away from the “love thy neighbor” reservation judging by some of their written words. I will confine my remarks below only to those in both camps that act badly.

For both of these types of persons, it is interesting and sad to see how some persons will behave when hiding behind the anonymity of the computer. As an "old guy" I have occasionally acted irresponsibly in my youth, so I can relate, but only up to a point. I suspect that these persons would be truly ashamed if they knew their parents, husband, wife, children, etc., learned of some of the things they write herein. If their loved ones have departed this earth they may even be looking down on these persons from above and weeping at their actions. Clearly they do their loved ones a disservice and dishonor them with such behavior.

In answer to your question, I would argue that Christians and non-believers are just like other folks; some are overly sensitive, insensitive, kind of spirit or not easily ruffled. In short, we are all imperfect people in an imperfect world just trying to get through the day. I believe charity of spirit is the most important quality one should strive to obtain. Such a benevolent goodwill toward or love of humanity will enable a person to peacefully co-exist with everyone and make this imperfect world just a little bit more tolerable. We all have our inherent biases and flaws, but there is no reason we cannot strive to be better, no matter what our personal circumstances may be.

Intellectually, Christians and non-believers, like all of us, fall into the standard bell curve of intelligence, with the usual statistical distributions. I am a member of MENSA and a Christian, so I am at least one data point indicating that any assertion of inferior intelligence on the part of Christians might be flawed. Statistically speaking, there should be a few more of MENSA level persons that exist at the upper 2% of intelligence distributions of the population. Nevertheless, if you or anyone has some empirical data that supports an assertion about intelligence and belief or non-belief I would be interested in reviewing it for use in a conference paper I am authoring.

Did you read your own question? You say "we" atheists don't like to cause conflict. But your question does just that! Calling Christians "freaking hypocrites" and saying "live and be kind" in the very same text. What are your definitions of the words "kind" and "hypocrite"? You fell quite a bit short of making your case, Nacho! True atheists don't bother with the R & S section of this website. They feel it is a waste of their time. You are, indeed, a person who likes to cause conflict. This is how you get your "desired laughs".

And for those of you who said that Christians run when the "atheists" come, that it "scares the CRAP out of us" Well I'm standing right here! Does it look like I'm shaking in my boots?

Your first part of this questions is biased, one can say that atheist wants the monopoly when sadly this is a forum for all views if you only want to speak to someone who shares your view then you are in the wrong forum.

Christians are discriminated against because they believe in something greater then themselves and know this to be true. and no we do not try to convert if you can't hear Jesus then you can't believe for no one goes to him unless they have ears to hear and a mind to understand the teachings.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to disucss religion even if you claim to be an atheist. To me though you just sound like someone who wants all the glory with none of the work and commitment that goes with it. Life is serious, when you see starving, innocent children, and the only reason they are starving is because they have the mishap of being born in a country whose government is autoritarian and greedy and don't care about them when there is famine brought on by nature's devastation, no social programs are in place our Red Cross programs are saving millions, not the African government.

By believing in Jesus and His works we know that all things are here for us to better ourselves, and to help one another come to a better place of understanding with one another. What we experience and feel toward our brother is what counts with God. Life as a Christian is not as you describe, shackles and such this is only your perception of what you do not know about.

Continue to search for the truth it will be granted you, God bess.

Amen.

Still, I wouldn't want my own section. I'm perfectly happy to defend spirituality and ethics against those who would claim that these are exclusively christian or religious traits.

Besides, there's many a good joke in this section. They just don't tend to realize it.

the electrical powered business enterprise potential draining, financially draining the fee you pay gets greater with each and every roll of the cube it rather is a great gamble merely like life. the folk who've it say you are able to no longer stay without it yet funnily adequate for 100s or perhaps hundreds of years people did.

I agree. Have you tried getting a section for atheists set up by Yahoo, or is this just another poke with the hot iron?

The reality of this question is, its not meant as a joke, but merely illustrates that some of us do ask serious questions and phrase them to be funny.
My last question is such an example where I asked about the "wages of sin" being taxable or gross, just asking about the topic, and was told not to mock God.

So then we see a theme of Christians thinking every question about God is about "their" God.

They lack political correctness.

But so do I. Taxable wages of sin?

No, Christians don't think at all. Apparently their God thinks for them. Anything to make life easy.

you think you're discriminated against? lol!

and btw, we all live by a code of principles, just not always written down. besides, kindness depends on your definition, nice depends on your definition. what if someone's opinion of nice is "giving someone a taste of their own medicine", but someone else thinks that's wrong, like Ghandi?

and stop being prejudicial and thinking we don't have a sense of humour. it's just jokes that do emotional hurt that aren't funny at all.

Are you saying that you like to laugh at others as it relates to issues that they consider a matter of life and death?

What a morbid sense of humor !
