,It tells you that something is wrong, check you gas cap if its loose it will turn on light . to be honest there are so many reasons i could not put them all on this page but if it starts flashing its serious and pull over , it means the engine is misfiring and could leave you stranded . It could be any number of things, from a simple misfire or a problem with the catalytic convertor, O-2 sensor or some other emmission problem. You need to take to a repair shop. They will put it on the computer. That will tell them which code set off the engine light, which in turn will tell them the problem.

It means that there is something needing attention that has been detected by the on board computer. You need an OBD reader to determine the meaning of the code or you can go to a store such as Auto Zone who offer this as a free service.

it means the same thing it means in other cars it can be a sensor going bad in it,or it might have had an intermittent disturbance,enough to set the light ,this is usually caused by a sensor going bad on it,or a problem with the emissions system or the fuel system,id take it and have auto zone scan it and see if it was,anything important,its free there,and they can tell you for sure what it is,and what you need to repair it.good luck i hope this helps.

Bring it in so a service person can hook it up to the computer and it will give them a code number of whatever is wrong inside.

go to your Toyota dealer and ask them to check your computer. They will tell you exactly whats wrong with your car. They will connect a little device to your car. Somewhere near the gas and brake pedals.

Check your owners manual. but in any case it's not a good sign! it means get to a shop/repair place soon as you can!! you could be doing damage to your engine the longer or farther you drive it!!!!!!!!

the only real way to diagnose the problem is to bring it to your mechanic and let him hook it up to a computer....they can diagnose the trouble codes and tell you exactly if there is a problem
