Absolutely NOT ok at all. Romans 12:14 says, "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse." I have doubts if your friends are true christians. True christians are ambassadors for Christ, it's like an ambassador of a country sent to another country. Read the Bible and check if their actions match God's Words, then only you'll know if they are true christians.

Obscenities and other kinds of foul language have become so common today that many people hardly give them a second thought. And yet the Bible is clear: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths. ... Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking" (Ephesians 4:29; 5:4).
Why does the Bible say this? The main reason is because that kind of language doesn't honor God. In fact, it dishonors Him by using His name in a casual or blasphemous way, and by degrading other people—people whom He loves. That's why one of the Ten Commandments declares, "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God" (Exodus 20:7). If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, your goal should be to honor Him in everything you do—including your speech.
Commit your tongue to the Lord, and ask Him to help you to keep from cussing. Ask Him also to fill your mind—and your speech—with what is good. Remember: What we say is a reflection of what we think. The Bible says, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2).
Then pray for your friends. The more you care about their salvation, the more you'll want to witness to them about Christ—both by your words and your life.

Cussing, cursing, swearing, none of it reflects positively on the person who uses it whether they are Christian or not. It's a sign of a limited vocabulary and lack of true wit.
Worst of all it becomes a habit. Then the words pop out in the most inconvenient times and places.
Don't judge and lecture your friends though. Abstain from it yourself and set a good example.

No, but it can be a habit just like smoking or any other vice. Christians are not perfect, just forgiven. The Holy Spirit must work on them to convict them of any sin still in their life. It is not up to anyone else to judge. Cursing does not help a Christian's witness to others, but we all make mistakes. Don't let that keep you from personally knowing Jesus as your Savior. We all have things we are working on and God is working on us still!

No. Anything that is not pleasing to God is a sin. Many people profess to be saved, but still live for the devil. When God saved me, He changed me. I live my life separate from this world. I don"t feel comfortable around people who drink, or cuss. I have a desire to follow Him.We are not perfect but, We must pray, read our Bible, go to church and ask God to help us to resist all evil and temptation. Before we say, or do anything we should stop and ask, Is this Christ like? If not, we should not say it, or do it.

They may be Christians but they are setting a bad example and are killing there testimony in the process. A Christian should do their best to not sin and cussing is a sin.

Christians are not perfect. Using th Lords name in vain would be a sin. It would be a venial sin because they often say it without thinking. It is a sin against the 2nd commandment. I use to say "Oh my God" I was badly misinformed and thought it was a form of prayer because under my breathe I would say "help us".Many people also say "Jesus" or "Jesus,Joseph and Mary".
Nor should we use words to degrade anyone (5th commandment)
We are desensitized. It is a bad habit.

it's ok to use slang like if I stub my toe and say "oh sheet" that's one thing, but to use that language against someone and put them down is unchristian regardless of what language you use. I have a degree in communication and I know what I'm talking about when I tell you that words have no meaning other than the meaning we assign to them. the meaning lies, not in a word, but in us. It's the intent and usage of the language that is most important. to suggest that it is unchristian to say a four-letter word when I stub my toe is purely cultural and not innate.

They shouldn't continnue doing that. But although it's not good testimony, it's not to say they don't truly believe in Jesus. It's a bad habit and also bad manners. It's disrespectful to both God and other people.
