My mothering law has a jack russel which just barks all the time, it drives everyone nuts if a car passes the house she starts there seems to be no cause and no stopping it ive worked hard at stopping her but to no avail. I also have a dog which is too protective and will go mad at other dogs and sometimes people, when someone comes to the door or she doesnt like the look of them. She is not aggressive and wouldnt bite. I no she is doing her job, its just other people and dogs dont really appreiate this and it stops us going for walks in some places.

This may sound harsh but works fast and well. Buy a shock bark collar. This may sound in humane but you can set the settings so its only like a static shock to a human. This should work well. After the dog has stopped barking you can take it off for good. And for you other dog try taking it to a dog park on a short leash so it can get used to other dogs and people. Also try to train your dog so it has a special "place" such as a dog mat or something it can always go to when the doorbell rings. This is what we did with my dog. The dog cannot be petted or played with when on its "place". This shows that That is his and will not be intruded or taken away.

We also had the same problem with our dog and the bark collar works. However, he has associated the collar with shocking, not barking with shocking... so once we take the collar off he starts up again! I don't want to leave the collar on all day so I think I'm going to try the lemon juice thing and see if that works

Every time the dog barks you smack it and say LOUDLY "NO". Dogs will listen to there masters commands as long as the master is not a "wimp" if you know what I mean....Don't be afraid to discipline your dog!!
Dogs are "pack animals" they have a leader, If you the Human are not the leader, then your dog takes the roll of being the leader and doing what he/she wants and even bossing you around.
Take control, Let your dog know that YOU are the leader!! And once that is done, you will have a wonderful dog that will not bark anymore.

Hi, Bark collars are a dream! The work most all of the time, and clients at our clinic swear by them. Give it a try, Wal Mart sells them for around 20-30 dollars. Have a good day!

In any given situation, focus on what you do want your dog to do instead of on whatever he’s doing wrong. Learn how to train your dog https://tr.im/ZN0Vs

For example, suppose that on many evenings, your young dog gets busy looking for trouble just as you’re digesting your dinner. He grabs a boot from the mat by the front door and gallops through the house with it. You yell at him and take it away. He grabs its mate. You yell and take it away. He heads for the kitchen and starts checking out the counters in case something tasty’s been left behind. You chase him away. And on and on, until you’ve lost your temper and torn out clumps of hair you can ill afford to lose.

Well when the dog barks say "stop it!" then say sit and give it a treat, soon it will relize that when it dosent bark it gets a treat but when it does it gets nothing.
Tell me how it works out.

You have my deepest sympathy, I have the same trouble with my Yorkie, he drives me mad, I've tried everything except the shock collar, that's cruel so I'm not trying it. I keep threatening to take him to Dogs Borstal, Mick and Co seem to have it sussed so I'm seriously considering applying.

Every time the dog bites you put a little lemon juice in their mouth and say "hush", "no bark", whatever. Every single time, consistantly. The lemon juice doesn't hurt the dogs, but the taste is bitter and they won't bark. It works like magic!

I have tried to use squirt guns, and shock collars and they didn't work for me. So I got a metal coin can and put some change in it and every time he did something that I didn't like I shook the can. Try that!
