I am having a hard time targeting my lower abs. I work really hard in the gym, cardio 45 min. everday, I lift, and I eat 1700 calories broken up into 5 meals. I know my stuff and I am losing fat. The only thing I see is that when I do my abdominal day I only feel sore in my upper abs and my obliques. I can never seem to get to those lower abs. I do hanging leg lifts, reverse crunches, floater kicks, everything. I just don't understand why I am not sore. I feel a burn when I do it. Could it mean that I am not building on that muscle? Please, help if you can.

During your hanging leg lifts, use a leg strap to add some weight, like a small plate, for added resistance, to your workout. This could result in your desired 'burn' over time. Increase the weight over time when you become accustomed to it.

A great exercise is to lay on your back with an exercise ball in your hands and your legs straight on the floor. Crunch up and bring the ball above your stomach with arms straight. Next bring your legs up and place the ball between your knees. While holding the ball with your legs and continuing to keep your upper body off he ground, lower your legs to with in an inch of the ground. Next bring them back up, take the ball in your hands and lower your upper body to the ground. repeat for as many reps as you can.

Another good one:
Start in push up position with your ankles on a large exercise ball. Using your ab and keeping your legs straight, bring the ball towards your hands as far as you can. Return the ball back to the starting position and repeat.

I know pilates have a certain set of exercises that target the lower ab muscles. It's tough at first but you'll get the hang of it.

Apart from that, I dont really know of any exercises. sorry.
