feel silly that you believe that all those things ( women came from a rib, an Ark big enough to contain all species on earth, flaming talking bushes, Seas dividing...) happened?
I mean, how can you loose all sense of rationality?

James P, the reason why we forget is that Christians pick and choose what they think is right and what's wrong..
Either it's the word of God or it isn't..
Why are some things right and some wrong?
Who gets to decide? and how?
No sorry, I think Christians have the monopol on conveniency....

We Catholics, as you might know, have points from Christianity including wot you said in the parentheses. Yes we believe in all that because we belive in God and God can practically do anything so he can do all of those things that you said. Like for instance many people today are celebrating St.Patricks Day and he has performed many extroardinary things including walking through fire, stopping a blizzard, and healing his own cut in a second wich was caused by a sword. This wouldnt have happened if he didnt believe in God cuz God gave him those powers.

Its just our faith in wot God can do.

All the things that happened did happen and if you dont believe in God that is totally fine. We can also question many other things that sound like nonsense like technology in the future, where existence came from, and many other things.

And to all those people above and below me, Christians, Catholcs, and Jewish people do think, believe, and trust that the Bible is 100% fact.

The only evidence that proves these things happened is probably the Bible...
And no one knows if Jesus was real cuz no1 existed at that time. THe only reason we might believe it is because we want to go to heaven and no other religion is more persuasive then giving a ticket to heaven if you just believe in everything and follow the commandments in the Christian, Catholic, or Jewish Bible.

If you took a Bible course and discovered what Scriptural Typology is you would be amazed. If you knew what salvatin history was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.

We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's, the rest.... IT IS WRITTEN.

WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible ) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.

The thing that might shock you and others is that satan used scripture to tempt Jesus. So, too Satan will use scripture to trip us up from following the true faith. This is why there has to be divine authority that passes from the Old Testament to apostolistic succesion in the New Testament. This is why someone cannot Authoritatively pick up a Bible and correctly interpret it nor can there be millions of interpretors to HOLY SCRIPTURE. There can only be one....

Now, I hope this helps :)
Happy St.Patricks Day to all people for it is a dy of fun not just religious beliefs.

The "rib" you read is a mistranslation. In the manuscripts it is "curve". Ever hear of a dna curve? hmmm.....
The Ark did not need to contain all the species of animals on the earth; the flood came upon the world of the ungodly, not the entire earths terafirma.
As far as the seas dividing and other miraclulous occurances, what do you expect of a God who created the universe?
That He be only capable of what you are cabable of? Perhaps you do not understand the idea of "The Living God, the Creator". He probably has a few more abilities than you do.
The only thing left to do is to wait and see;
but when Christ returns, how will you rationalize it?

Not all christians take the early Genesis account literally. The tower of Babel is a picture of human pride and Noah's Ark a picture of salvation. The Adam and Eve account is saying that sin and discommunication with God have got into human history.

As for miracles .. I've seen some .. also I have received the Holy Spirit when I believed, and He is invisible. So I don't have the automatic "no it can't be" of those who philosophically choose to think that God can't intervene supernaturally.

None taken, but then seriously, how can you believe that we evolved from some chimpanzee, and developed into the species we are today.
How can you explain the millions of people who have been touched by the Spirit of God.
Oh yeah, we are all off our rockers.
But hey you know, most of us have learned that it is up to GOD to impress Himself on your heart, not us. So when God is ready for you to Join His ranks, He will touch your heart.
I do not have the power to do that.
In His time, Not mine.
Douglas J.
As far as believing in all that, Sure I can believe it, all things are possible with God, all things are possible if you believe.
The trouble is, many of us doubt everything, until we see it for ourselves. So when you are ready for God to come into your heart and open up your eyes to unlimited possibilities, and an eternity in Paradise.
He will come to you.

Maybe you should ask Him, but then I guess it is not really up to you.
So, good day.

When considering how large the ark was for example, it isn't irrational in the least. As for God creating women from the rib of man, He certainly knows how to do it better than myself.

every religion has their own myths and legends. the difference is that a lot of people take them literally. religion began as a way to explain things people didn't know. how did the world come into existance? why does a man have one less rib? think about the term "greek mythology" back then, it wasn't mythology to the greeks, it was religion. one day crhistianity will be considered the same thing, when religion evolves once more. i love that religion evolves, especially since creationists don't believe in evolution ; )

I'm not a Christian but most of them know that the Bible is not a history book and is not 100% fact. Even certain fundamentalist Christians admit that it shouldn't be taken literally. Strange how many Christians seem to realize this, but Atheist conveniently forget.

But hey, lets all abandon God because of some old book and a flawed organized religion run by men. That's the cool thing to do...

That's just an excuse. It's easy to see what is right and wrong in the Bible.

Thou shalt not kill: right
Women not being allowed to talk in church: wrong

Anyone who can read and who has common sense can see that even though the Bible has outdated parts, it still has good messages.

Who knows if it's the word of God? God exists in many more religions then just Christianity....another thing you Atheists seem to always forget. Along with the fact that the Bible was written by ordinary men...not God.

It is now coming to light that the Bible is simply the historical record and legends of a culture, the Hebrews. the old testament is the story of their legends, including their creation myths. These people were really, really good at getting a whole lot of people not of their culture to believe their legends.

No wonder the rate of suicide is going up.
If I believed that this life is for no point I'd kill myself to
