HI hearts!!
I was dagnosed with performance anxiety long ago so i know what you are going through, until you have the extreme confidennce to speak or do things in front of crowds i would suggest Xanax or Klonopin right before your stressfull anxiety provoking times, Yes they are meds but they can only be taken at those times if you wish, They help out sooooooo much for those times. But ofcourse you should stick wiht your Docs advice.
Also, i would suggest watching a movie called the secret. It is even more powerful than the meds i promise!!
God Bless~~

Hi. I have to agree slightly with the first answer. We have an extremely selective attention. You should be aware of this.
One method may be cognitive. Fill in the following with a pen or think about it:
- Situation.
- Thoughts
- Feelings
- Action.
- Feelings you wish you had
- Actions you wish you'd take
- Alternative thoughts

It can also be applied to the situation of givnig a presentation.
Another thing that helps with social anxiety is called "exposure." For example practicing the presentation in front of a smaller group or family. Remember being prepared for the presentation will help too.

This is what to do when giving a presentation. Wear an antique hoop skirt with a big bright orange sweat shirt and bunny rabbit slippers.
I assure you if you do, no one in that class is going to notice your red face.
Or you could volunteer to go first (that's what I do), and I can again assure you, no one in that class is going to really notice you or your project because they are all worrying about their own project and busy being glad you volunteered so the teacher would not call on them.
And the odd few who might notice will forget by the time everyone has done their project.
As for the teacher calling on you in class, can't help you there. sorry.

Google "overcoming fear of public speaking" for some great web sites and ideas. I have suffered from this for years, and it realy is a case of anxiety and nerves. Usually we don't like to have people focus so much on us the way they do in classrooms for presentations and speaking out loud and it can be unnerving. You need to build your self confidence up more. Volunteer answers in class more - you are in control when you volunteer. Practice in front of your friends/family where you can get a small group together and get practice time in and get their suggestions. Know your presentation inside and out and try to keep your focus off the group and yourself, and concentrate on the presentation or your answer in class. It is difficult, but you can overcome!!!!

Social anxiety is quite isolating, but not being able to present something to a group of people is quite common, that is just "stage nerves" Social anxiety is when You can't go out with a group of people to enjoy yourself. One-One is ok, but not groups. I think you are suffering from nerves, something you will get over, but maybe not before leaving school.
