I was wondering what goes on while a person is in a coma. If they sometimes go into a dream world or is it just like normal sleep to where a few dreams and mostly unconciosness. I would imagine there are several possibilities.

They do "dream" or fantasize. A very important fact is that they can and do often hear what is being said to them while unconscious. So it is important to speak to them and encourage them to get better and to converse with them as you would if they were awake. Because they go through moments of being "awake" and "asleep" as they would normally.

I don't think they can because dreaming requires certain brain waves and a person in a coma just has low frequency delta waves with no dreaming activity.
