You do need to call or e-mail the embassy or consulate in your jurisdiction to get correct information pertaining to their processing times. I applied for mine in person in Los Angeles Ca., I arrived in the morning one day and picked up my visa the next day at 10:00 AM. The LA consulate (www.thai-la.net) states that if you mail-in your application it takes approximately two weeks, not including mailing time, to receive your visa. I can't say what the wait times are for other embassys or consulates, but I would think others would be similar, but it never hurts to check. Good luck.

If your mum is Thai and legaly married with her husband, she can enter Thailand and register herself in the aerea she like to stay. Her husband applies for an non immigrant O visa valid for 3 months at any Thai-embassy, settle down and with founding a company they can start a business. But for this they have to go to a recommended Lawyer.

You don't say where you are...the average time varies from country to country with an average being at least one month. the fee for a one year visa with muiltiple entries is about $125 USD. You must leave the country every 90 days as well...not three months, 90 days.

There is a good web site ThaiVisa.com that has very good current immigration information.
I live in Thailand and so far it's the most comprehensive site I've found.
