I believe this movie was black & white, from the 30's maybe? There was a woman in this house, I believe it was on a cliff overlooking the ocean, and she was running around the house covering up all the mirrors in it. I was thinking it was someone like Bette Davis, but I can't seem to find anything like that. Help! I'm going crazy!

Ok, I've watched Rebecca, which was wonderful! But it's not the one I am thinking of. I'm going to watch Mr. Skeffington this week to see if that might be it!

This sounds strangely like Hitchcock's "Rebecca" to me. It's a black & white 1940 movie starring Joan Fontaine (as the female lead), Laurence Olivier, and Judith Anderson. The movie is based on the novel by the same name by Daphne Du Maurier.

In general, the story is about Fontaine's character who resembles her husband's late wife who died tragically. Anderson plays the eccentric maid who holds her new mistress at arm's length because of the resemblence. (I can't remember if she went around covering mirrors, but it sounds like something her character would do.)

Again, I'm not sure if this is the movie you're looking for. But, even if it itsn't, and you like older films, "Rebecca" is a great one to try! You really can't go wrong with Hitchcock.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!! :)

I watch/like old movies and know what your talking about. It's Mrs. Skeffington starring Bette Davis and Claude Rains made in 1944. The plot is as follows:
Popular and beautiful Fanny Trellis is forced into a loveless marriage with an older man, Jewish banker Job Skeffington, in order to save her beloved brother Trippy from an embezzlement charge and predictable complications result.
Good movie. The reason why she is covering up the mirrors is as she grows older , used to being a beautiful women , can't bare to she herself that way.

Try going to IMDB.com and put Bette Davis into the Search. It shows all of her movies in date order. Maybe you will recognize the Title then.

After reading your other answers I agree with Rebecca. I wanted to say Rebecca earlier because of the whole sea side house thing but I don't remember her covering mirrors.

Check IMDB as they have some really good information there. Would it be
Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte or Murder with Mirrors?
