Corporate branding is getting ridiculous in T.O. - Pantages Theatre became the Canon (Camera) Theatre, Maple Leaf Gardens (Lord help me if that really becomes a Loblaws!) was replaced by the A.C.C. Centre (I hate Air Canada almost as much as I hate Rogers), O'Keefe Centre changed to Hummingbird (I think it's some kind of tech company) Centre...When will the madness stop? The name "Skydome" fit perfectly - It's a friekin' dome which opens up to the friekin' sky! God....

I hate any sport venue name this is paid by a company, i.e. Rogers Centre, Air Canada Centre, The Ricoh Coliseum, The new BMO Field, in Montreal we have the Bell Centre, Molson Memorial Stadium. Stadium and arena naming is a BIG business. If I owned a team, I'd name the stadium and or arena after myself too, IE Turner Field in Atlanta. The name "Skydome" sucked anyway, so why not call it Rogers Centre. I just think it should be called "Waste of taxpayers money" Centre!!

With a passion. I refuse to call it by that name. I generally still call it the SkyDome or, if I'm feeling very charitable, I take a page out of Prince's book, and call it 'The Stadium Formerly Known as the SkyDome'.
Not that I talk about it very much anyhow.

It will always be the Skydome because it started out that way, it remained that way for a long time and it looks like the name itself!

Argh, I don't even understand why they did it. I still call it the Skydome, just to spite them. I refuse to refer to it as the Rogers Centre.
