In the spices isle at the grocery, you can buy ALUM. If you put a dab on the cold sore, it will clear up very quickly.
Also, if you ask your DR. for a script for VALTREX, that too will help relieve the severity and the frequency of out breaks.

Cold sores are caused by a strain the the "herpes" virus. Dont' get nervous. Not the sexually transmitted herpes. Just the type of herpes that "you" in particular are suseptible to in the enviorment. It is a virus, just like a cold. There is nothing to make them go away faster, although there are some products on the market now that claim to do so. They might help, try them. Talk to your pharmacist. As for preventing them, it is said that Lysine, a natural homopathic product/pill, sold in any drug store or heath food store can help to prevent or lessen the amount of reaccurance. However as for any vitamin or suppliment, follow the directions carefully as some products and vitamins, if overused or taken in larger quanities can be very harmful to the body, especially to the liver. Vitamin A, if one of those. So if you decide to take Lysine, take the recommned dose. Hope this helps!

This is Herpes HSVI is --- It is a virus you will always have and yes it is transmittable.... and can be transmitted sexually also.. but not saying thats how you got it ... its highly contagious.. the one good thing is most commonly when you have HSVI you dont get HSVII which is worse.. but for example as a nurse I did see a woman who had HSVI in her vaginal area happened because her husband gave her oral sex and had cold sores HSVI on his lips... anyways.. yes you can get antiviral oral medication which should prevent outbreaks completely such as "Valtrex"... or OTC lip balm called "Herpicin"-I believe is the spelling not quite sure... these outbreaks may decrease over time...or become fewer and farther in between....anyways good luck...

If you are having frequent outbreaks, a lysine supplement can help. Also, you may want to ask your doctor for suppressant antivirals, valtrex or acyclivor (the latter is cheaper) will help. They can also prescribe an antiviral cream to help out.

garlic cloves. cut it in half, squeeze it, then rub on. dries them up in half the time. (burns a little though) don't let people scare you with all that herpes stuff. cold sores, herpes,& chicken pox are all related. cold sores are more closley related to chicken pox than herpes though. I got that straight from my Dr.
