The Great British Tax-Payer footed the bill. Just as we did for The Millenium Dome, The London Olympic Bid and the Iraq war. All Tony's legacy to the UK and the people as he departs into the sunset.

The fact the bill was footed by the puclic was the reason it was, delayed, over-budget and so badly handled. Public money and government building projects are a marriage made in hell. Companies always under value the costings of the work to win the contract, then unveil th true cost once the deals are done and construction is underway. There's always board members, shareholders and cabinet ministers taking cuts, backhanders and brown envelopes being passed around in flasks.

It sounds like something you'd see in a T.V drama, and if it wasn't true, it's be laughable, because literally, you couldn't make it up!

The tax payer. Regardless whether they like sport or not.
The same goes for the Olympic stuff.Even if you don't live in London you still have to have your money spent on trivia
instead of something useful e.g.hospital equipment.

According to talk sport this morning, it was payed for with private money from the FA , though where they get that sort of money from I don't know sponsorships and stuff I guess. The millenium stadium was taxpayers though.
