We have been offered a lovely puppy who we can provide a good home to, the only thing is we are going on holiday for 2 weeks in June.
My parents will probably be able to take care of him while my partner and I are on holiday, but if not we would have to put him in a kennel. He would be round 5 months old, would kennels accept a dog so young?

Thanks

Each kennel will have there own requirments for dogs to stay there, but at the very least the dog will need all of it's vaccines. Just call some kennels in your area and ask. Also go visit them so you know which one you would prefer to take your dog to.

That should be ok as long as he has had all his jabs and has been wormed. It will also get him used to being away from you in kennels at a young age so if he needs to go in there again he wont mind. He will probably love it and wont miss you half as much as you will miss him.I worry when i have to put mine in but they love the other dogs company

my dog was 3months when i put him in a kennel for a week. just take the vaccination and jab papers with u. my pup loved it, just make sure u choose a really nice kennel, maybe somewhere recommended by somebody u know is usually the best.

yes, the staff shud be able to deal with dogs of any age providing all vaccinations are complete, the kennel cough vacc isnt compulsory, well shudnt be, make sure u look around to find kennels that suit you and check out the staffing to make sure they look capable to look after pets, u'll be surprised how many arent, good luck.

yes, a boarding kennel should accept a dog at 5 months old, provided he/she has his rabies, distemper and kennel cough vaccines.

It will be fine, as long as pup has all the relevant jags. Phone the kennels to book early or you may not get a place.

No, he just has to be old enough to leave his parents, which he should be anyway unless your the breeder, and have had all his vaccinations (kennel cough ect.)

So long as your puppy has had all his vaccinations he should be ok. My kennels take them from 4months, but most would say they have to have had their 6months vaccination before they'll take them.

Have you rung to find out if they will?

no it doesnt matter about the age as long as they have had there shots if not sometimes theyll board them in the hospital so they dont catch anything from the other dogs this is what they need to have rabies, bordetella dhlpp... and that should be enough for them to board thanks alot for listening
