I experimented with many different diets in the past to try and help rid myself of eczema and I can say unequivocally that eating raw fruit and veg certainly helps. I will argue this with every doctor in the universe who says differently. The problem is that I really do not think it is suitable for long term, despite what advocates say. We are omnivores and are adapted to eat just about anything, so to limit yourself to such a narrow band of food stuff is not good in my opinion.

I go on a raw food diet every January for a month and I am virtually never unwell. The real trouble for me is that I am thin at the best of times and there is a danger that you could become too skinny and malnourished if you don't eat large quantities daily.

What I'd suggest to you is not to believe any of these fanatics who say it is the only proper way to eat. Treat everything sceptically and see for yourself it is good or not. I could never give up eating cooked meals or goodies such as chocolate or crisps forever and life would be no fun. Why would you want to live to 100 and have to deny yourself the pleasures of life?

I had a coworker that did it...I saw pictures...she looked like a different person. She lost nine pounds in the first week and was never sick. She kept it up for a year but travels for work and had a hard time keeping to it...she wants to do it again. There are some great books about it. I can't recall the title...but if you search on amazon for raw food diets it should pop up..the cover is green...several shades with a door opening on it. There are also some great websites for the raw food movement...you can even locate raw food people in your area that meet. www.rawsome.com is one that comes to mind.

I am having health problems and want to do this way of eating some day...

She did say carob (?) was a great fix when she wanted chocolate....there are raw food sites to buy stuff from...OH... raw almond butter is YUMMY!!!! I did try that!

GOOD LUCK!!! :)

The only really raw food I've had is Sushimi, raw fish, Japanese food and it was heaven sent. It was gorgeous. Most japanese are thin and healthy.
