The Scriptures tells us to .."Believe not every spirit (teaching), but test the spirits, whether they be of God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world".- I John 4:1

So according to scripture .....how do you determine if a teaching is not of God but a lie from the spirit of anti-Christ?

you test what is being said against the truth of the bible and it will then show you if it is truth or a lie. Listen to the Holy Spirit and He will guide you

Your question send shivers up my spine. It, to me, borders on fanatical and dangerous. You seem to be taking the scriptures too literally.
'Believe not every spirit, but test the spirit..'
In other words, don't take every written or spoken word for gospel, make your own beliefs based on truths you discover.
False prophets have nothing to do with the anti-christ!! Use common sense and instinct: If you don't believe a teaching is from god, move on. There is no 'testing' to be done.
The scriptures actually tell you that you are of free will, you can make your own assumptions and decisions.
Edit:
Some uneducated people speak total rubbish.
Anti does NOT mean 'instead of'.
Anti: PREFIX - opposed to or opposite to something.

This is exactly why it is critical that a person learns what is truly written in Gods Word.
The downfall of man will be his lack of knowledge. Where does all knowledge come from? God.
If you are in a Church that just does the same recital of responses each week, quess what: you are learning nothing of Gods Word, but probably plenty of some priests or pastors "word".
If something does not line up with the Word of God, then there's a problem.
I usually say: "if it doesn't fit, you must dump it".
The problem with people is that they would rather just listen to some pastor rather than to check it out for themselves in the Word.
When you do that, you open yourself up to God only know what lies.
Mark 13 is a chronological order of events that will lead up to the return of the true Christ; note the very first thing that Jesus Christ tells you: Let no man deceive you.
He doesn't say "let not the devil deceive you", he says "man". People just will not stop listening to man, even though "man" has screwed up every single thing he has ever touched.
If you have access to a Bible, learn what the plan of God is, and then anything that does not line up with that, is a lie.
It will "go down" exactly as it is written,
and you have been foretold all things.
If you don't read it with understanding, its your own damn fault when you are one of the mass majority of people who the Bible states will be deceived in these end times.
There is no gray area here: either you know
and understand the Word of God, or you just like to "play church". This is what separates a true soldier of Christ from a fake.

but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

He replied: "Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away." ( luke 21 8-9)

Matthew 7:15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
From all the answers I'm am reading I think I should watch those who are taking the bible completely out of context! I also should be aware of the churches who are doing the same. I like Jan's answers where it says "The downfall of man will be his lack of knowledge. Where does all knowledge come from? God. If you are in a Church that just does the same recital of responses each week, quess what: you are learning nothing of Gods Word, but probably plenty of some priests or pastors "word". If something does not line up with the Word of God, then there's a problem." Thank you!

nicely, there is definitely no information of the antichrist; there is aspect out of antichrists, yet no longer a unique guy. An antichrist is someone that opposes Christ, and in person-friendly words the man himself can be conscious of that. no accessible choose yet another's heart.

The very next two verses( in I John 4: 2&3) we find the answer.
Quote :( vs.2&3 of I John 1) New King James Version : " By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,(vs.3) and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and is now already in the world."

any spirit that is from God will acknowledge Jesus Christ as God and Lord. If the spirit denies this in any way, it is DEFINITELY not of God.

also, "anti" means "against". So if the teachings are contrary to Christ's teachings, or speak ill of Christ, then it is an antichrist spirit. the antichrist however, you probably won't be around when he's here, so you need not worry.

you have asked a good question and deserve a serious answer.
first and foremost -----do they teach a different gospel than what is presented to us by Christ and the disciples after wards?
how to know if they teach a different gospel?
find a bible based church and study the new testament. i say bible based because there are alot of churches that are either wrapped up in rituals or mans doctrines.(and sometimes in essence are anti Christ.)
a fundamental church is your best bet .

Get a supple hazel branch. Grasp one end firmly in your right hand, and the other end in your left hand so that the hazel stick is bow shaped. Cautiously approach the suspected anti-christ, keeping bow well in front of you. If the stick starts to twist and turn in ever quickening revolutions, said person has the anti spirit.

All you have to do is stick around the Religion and spirituality section long enugh and you will find all kinds of people who are preaching their interpretation of the gospel meanwhile spreading resentment and hatred for those that are not of the same faith or beliefs. so there is plenty of the anti-Christ right here on yahoo...
