Those are very good answers by the first 2 posters. Compound exercises such as squats, leg presses, and lunges are great for building legs.

For biceps: barbell curls, dumbell curls, preacher curls and many others

For triceps: barbell tricep extensions, cable pushdowns, pullover and press, close grip bench press, etc are all great.

Remember to train the whole body for overall good proportions and injury prevention.

Here are some links to weekly workouts.

Buy a tube exercise kit that can be found at most sports stores. It is an inexpensive way to build muscles that are not bulky and unattractive. Get a kit that has several tubes with handles in various strengths. You start with the lowest and work up to the highest. You could add free weights to your program if you wanted, but I would suggest you start with the tubes first.

If free weights are not for you. Try Power Yoga or Pilates. In 6mths time, it will build lean and long muscle and also a healthy mind and body. :P
