Yes, they are a great way to stay in contact. I was very frustrated trying to find my friends all week on the cruise.

Best Walkie Talkie For Cruise

Yes, walkie talkies can be brought on the ship and used. However, there are limits. For example, unless you have a water proof walkie talkie, you cannot take it swimming with you. Also, no one wants to hear you talking on a walkie talkie when they are watching the entertainment. Also, consider that the ships are made out of steel, so the signal may not make it through too many decks. Also, others will also have walkie talkies and thus you are going to be on a party line.

Yes! By all means, take them if you want to know where everyone is.
My sister and I took a cruise to Alaska, both of us took our Talkabout(motorola) walkie talkies to stay in touch. They worked everywhere, even from a restaurant.
You can pick them up fairly easily at Walmart, and for a good price. Get the ones that are GMRS, and have a 5 mile or more radius, that way, of you lose someone on land, you can find each other also.

I would think so! And man, that's an awesome idea! So then you can give your kids one, or if you are a kid, you could have a sibling and you play like tag or something sweet!

If I ever go on a cruise ship, i'm so bringing walkie talkies now =]

Yes they do work and can be very helpful in finding or keeping tabs of friends and family; especially on the huge ships like the Freedom of the Seas. But you need to find a channel that does not have a lot of chatter as many folks are now using them. Also, be considerate of others when using them.

We said with Royal Caribbean and yes, people had walkie talkies. They were very popular with the Spanish.

Yes they are wonderful. Just an idea.... everyone else will have one too. I'd get a set with many channels you'll have less interference from other families. Also the better ones have a better range. This is important when someone in inside the metal hulled ship. Have fun!
