The way I convinced my parents to let me have a cell phone: I am exactly the same as you, A+ student and all. I told them why a cell phone would be good in my case. Tell them that it would be very helpful in emergencies, etc. JUST DON'T GO CELL PHONE CRAZY!! One of the reasons my parents let me keep mine is because I call my friends regulary but I am not on 24/7. Also, strike a deal. If they won't get you a chocolate or sidekick, tell them you'll buy the phone if they pay your phone bill or the other way around. Hope this helps!

Why do you need a cellphone and how old are you?
Cell phones can be very expensive for your parents if minutes are abused over the limit. Never compare yourself with other kids because you will always find better and worst than you. Be thankful for what you have and continue to be an A students. You and only you will benefit in the long run about being an A student, making the right choices and being a leader (never a follower). Take care and enjoy life, many more kids than you can imagine have a lot less than you. Learn to appreciate life and as a result you will be happier everyday.

Just because you're an A student, doesn't mean you'll be responsible with it! Remind your parents that having a cell phone will allow them to keep better tabs on you when you're away from home. Offer to get a prepaid phone so there's no risk of getting a huge bill. I have a teen aged sister who ran up a $900 phone bill one month talking and texting for hours with her boyfriend! Your parents are from a generation where cell phones were a luxury few could afford. They probably just don't want to spoil you...or spoil your good grades by letting you yak on the phone all night! Offer to let them hold the phone when you're doing homework and at bedtime since that's when most kids get off track. My niece has been caught many times talking on the phone at 4am on a school night. Good luck.

My kids didn't get their own cell phones until they had jobs and were responsible enough to pay for their own. Did you ever think that maybe one reason you have such fantastic grades is because you don't have a cell phone that rules your life with texting your friends all the time? You already have something your friends don't have...great grades...that will take you further in life then a cell phone! Keep up the hard work in school and you'll be the one walking around with scholarships, the highest paying jobs, and the best cell phone money can buy!

I would let my children have one but only for emergencies, I wouldn't want my kids to walk around with the cell phone constantly stuck to their face like many kids and adults do. Don't worry about what your friends have that isn't even important in life. Get a job and buy your own phone if they won't let you have one.

It could have something to do with your age, or the money.. How old are you? if you're under 13 than it probably has something to do with age, maybe wait until you're a little older. I have to pay for my own cell and I'm 13 cuz my dad doesn't think I need one

contrary to popular belief, cell phones are not a necessity. when you're old enough to have a job and pay for it yourself, get one. why is it that kids expect their parents to pay for a cell phone? what makes them think they have to have them? it's a luxury. somehow, the world got along just fine before we had them. while i'll agree they are nice to have in an emergency, they definately aren't needed for everyday life.cell's are not cheap and kid's tend to over use them to the point of abuse. don't expect them to get you a phone. get one yourself.

ask them to get one of the phones that can help them keep track of you. that way you get your phone and they can feel a little bit safer (they can use the computer to some how see where your phone is). this will be a good way to get some more freedom as you get a little older too.

How old are you? I don't feel one is necessary until high school. I got mine at the end of 8th grade(this past June). Just think, so you really need it or do you just want to say that you have one
