Dogs "tie" for anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes"

When a male enters a female his penis swells and it held in pace by the vaginal muscles. Males tend to be more nervous about this breeding event than females. Hence, he may try to pull away. Males will attempt a mount several times till a "tie" is accomplished. Dogs can become pregnant without having tied as well.

ANY "tied" pair over 30 minutes needs to be separated. A delicate situation as both the female and male can sustain injuries if forced apart. If you cannot manuever them into a car, try a VERY loud shocking noise. Water doesn't helps and will only cause them to struggle against each other to avoid being doused. A loud nosie such as a gun shot creates fear and the male tends to shrink and the female realxes her muscles. Thereby effecting a natural release. This is a LAST DITCH effort if you can't get professional help.

No dogs should be left for an hour in the coitus position. The male suffers worse abrasions and does bleed. The female can also suffer tearing and bleeding. Often times males bleed anyway from minor abrasions during coitus, but it is minmal.

Most of the time dogs so what comes natural and human intervention is not needed. When it is required, proceed with care as all critters concerned can be injured and the includes the human critter.

From personal experience about 15 minutes to 45 minutes, it varies, just don't try to separate them otherwise you can injure the male.

it totally depends on the dogs, if dogs are squealing try keep them close, so they don't try pull apart, never try to separate them, some one told me to pour cold water on them and t6he male will shrink and they separate.
