I really am attracted to this man ... he is kind, gentle, very smart. I think there is a chance we could at least be friends. I decided to send him a rose to let him know I'd like to date him. What should I write on the card that goes with it? Don't want to be so subtle he doesn't get the message, nor too pushy either.

First of all stand up and take a bow!

Thank God we've got some proof that romance isn't dead, it was just on holiday. Do you know how much my friends and I want to give flowers but can't because it might be seen as too old fashioned or too this or that..?

So good on you for taking the route marked "Class and Sophistication"!

Agreed- don't want to appear too pushy- non the less you want to get the message across that you'd like a date.

*smiles* (Try this...)

"How do you feel about dinner some time? *your name*"

Simple, direct. Its a question and nothing more. The rose implies that it would be a date, and there is nothing more elegant than a dinner engagement.

SMS is for those without class and courage. A phone call is a little distant and impersonal, but by the same token a rose with a card signals that he's not dealing with just another girl. He's dealing with a woman of class and substance, and that he should lift his game accordingly.

Go get 'em kid- best of luck!

The Iceman.

P.S. You've given me heart. The next time I get the chance to be in a relationship- I'm going to do it my way and not screw it up. And that damn it- means flowers!!!

You should tell him how you really feel about him but don't write your name on it make him be suspicious. You should really write that you had been seeing him for so long but he doesn't notice you.

Try wit:

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
But who cares,
Dinner with You?
