The law of the Lord is perfect in converting the soul.

See all the law does it show us were we have fallen short. It doesn't help us it only convicts us. But it will, if you allow it, lead you to the place of compassion and forgiveness.

The Social part is a benefit of what really changes inside. The church I go to is small, started by bikers, the pastor is not paid. The money is put back in to community out reach and helping others. Not so people can see a show but to follow the example of Christ. If it is about show the it is nothing more than a social club.

If you see a church that is doing what it should, then run to it, get involved and build it up. Feed on the Word of God.

But you must ask the hard questions of yourself and the leadership.

Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.

But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.

If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.

The Good Person Test.

How will you do? Pass or fail?

Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?

Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?

Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?

Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?

See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?

If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.

Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.

The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.

' I was going to suggest the exact opposite of what your idea is--Don't leave -- stay and change it. Most Christian churches today have study groups or at the very least different activities each day for different small groups (ladies night, men's night, teen night, etc) Take the part you are enjoying the most, the social part and expand on that. It is much easier to live in Christ when your friends are doing the same. If you want Jesus in your life he doesn't care if you sit through a boring sermon or not. Just go to "Sunday school"and then leave before the main service God will understand. Good luck -k-

I do not care for organized religion myself as they are ALL off base but I am old and have been searching for the "true" Christian church for a long time. If you are fairly new in your journey of seeking I wouldn't give up the search yet but would go to all different churches in your area, not just the ones you are familiar with, until you find a good fit for yourself. Study and worship with them for the fellowship. Then if you become disillusioned, move on or take up study yourself. You'll be amazed at what else they DON'T tell you in church. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately the church has been run by man for years and man is inherently flawed. Therefore the church has strayed from what it was meant to be. For a clear glimpse of how the church should function, read Acts. Don't stay away from the church, fellowship among Christians is necessary for healthy spiritual growth.

Yes you are wrong to give up and just stay away because the Bible tells us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together. But you do need to remember that the end time church is an apostate church and has fallen away from the truth. I think you need to go to church to get out of it what you can but also to realize that to day the church is the Mission Field. I think today there are more people in the church that do not know the Lord then do know him. You don't have to go out into the world anymore to preach the gospel you can do it right in the church.

Well if the church is preaching from the bible then guess you need to talk to Jesus about the should and should nots. The bible is full of those. If the church your going to is not doing this then find another church.

The Church is the people. Fine like minded people and start worshipping together. If you are not paret of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Somehow, when people get together on religion, the group sinks collectively below the level of the least of them.

Spirituality is, or should be, an intensely personal experience. Even "Jesus" is on record as having said "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

Each individual develops his own relationship with the bible (or whatever holy book; in the end, it makes little difference) based on the interaction of his "spirit" with the ideas on the page. Everybody, in practice, develops his own religion "organically" as it were; and this is how it should be, if religion is to have any real meaning. This is discouraged by organized religion, however, whose authority depends on strictly enforcing its own interpretations. Religion literally kills true spirituality.

Keep searching until you find the right group of people to fellowship with.
Hell will be full of people who went to church every Sunday!

WOW! You need to change religions, not faith but whatever you are(I'm assuming Roman Catholic) switch as soon as possible(I did).
