These clocks were so you can not set the time at all only choose the time zone. you don't set it even in case of a power outage. But now it's off. I'm guessing it will change next month when the time was supposed to change. I can change the time zone on both but would then need to do it again next month. I have unplugged them but they go back to the wrong time now.

Not very smart, are they?

Ok, here's why you're having that problem:
The Smart Set clocks you have are preprogrammed to recognize the daylight savings dates for last year (2006). The chip that is inside of it is not reprogrammable.

This is a situation that is beyond the control of Emerson, or any other company that produces devices with an automatic Daylight Saving Time adjustment feature.

Beginning in 2007 the current automatic DST default settings in this device would no longer be correct. It would then be necessary for you to manually adjust the TIME ZONE setting 4 times each year as follows:

1.) On the second Sunday in March you would have to set your clock to the next lower number time zone. For example if you lived in the Eastern Time zone (Zone 02) you would then change your clock to Zone 1 to move it ahead by one hour.

2.) On the first Sunday in April, this clock will automatically advance by one hour. You must then set the clock back to your correct time zone. For example if you lived in the Eastern Time zone you would set your clock back to Zone 02.

3.) On the last Sunday in October you would again set your clock to the next lower numbered time zone.

4.) On the first Sunday in November you would again set your clock back to your correct time zone.

Instructions for changing the Time Zone setting are found in the Owners Manual.

Emerson apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause due to circumstances that are beyond their control.

If your smart clock is like mine, then it has a battery in it to remember the last time that was set on the clock, so it doesn't automatically reset every time you unplug it or when the power goes out.

You might try unplugging it and unscrewing the battery compartment, remove the battery for like ten minutes, and then plug it back in.

I don't know what will happen in April, but it's worth a shot.

I have a radio shack clock that I think is like your emersons. I was expecting to have to manually tell it to look for the time setting signal, but it seems to have updated on its own. I'm guessing your emersons just need a nudge. Press the buttons that you pressed to put them in "set" mode when you first got them home. I'm sure they will reset.
