The bibles says that the holy spirit is within us, guiding us, a lot of times when we hear God voice in our head but we dont realize that it is him that is talking to us. Alot of times when you are have a struggle inside regarding something (to do vs. not to do) it is the holy spirit who is what they call your "conscience".
It helps to pray before you read the bible and ask God to open up to you and show you through the bible what he wants to tell you. God has his ways with each of us, some people get answers for everything just from reading a verse in the bible and some dont get anything for a while. Be patient with God, be dedicated, God never disappoints. If you make an efford and you truly desire him HE WILL BE THERE

Not that He hasn't spoken in the past in this way but most of the time it is done within us. We talk to ourselves all the time. It's called conscience. But the conscience is moved by what it is fed by, hopefully God's Word. What Christians call Spirit (God) or Flesh (Satan). We are fed by Gods Word or by our own desires to do what best serves us. Christians slowly replace their own desires with God's nature as long as we continue to want what's best for our relationship with God. It is a process.

But before we even want this in our lives, we must recognize our shortcoming. Once a person has knowledge of God and the way to repentance, he is responsible for making the decision of whether he accepts or rejects the message. If you truly accept the message (God knows), then the revelation of the Spirit of God starts. In other words, you'll hear Gods voice.

He has spoken to very few people in bible history. But he speaks to us in his letters if we make the effort to study them?
For example every question has an answer and he answers all questions as long as these questions are in harmony with his will. Jesus showed us how to pray and what to pray for at Mathew 6:9,10, But to understand what he was talking about we need to research God's word. After reading Mathew 6:9,10 read Psalms 83:18, Daniel 2:44, and Revelation 21:3,4, also read Mathew 5:5 and Psalms 37;9-11,29.
See if these thoughts move you to ask more questions?

Yes God speaks to people. Normally for me it is from His word. Feeling are great but trust in where a christian must live. Still the glow of being one with the Holy Spirit is tremendous. I am sorry that you have never had these experiences. Maybe a more trusting walk with Christ would help.... Jim

What kinda bible are you using? My bible does tell me clearly that God does speak to people in person. Acts 2:17 says, "In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. (18) Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy." You gotta have a real intimate relationship with our One and Only God, that is our Lord Jesus Christ before He can speak to you in person thru dreams and visions. God deals with us individually so I disagree with some people who says God speaks to a person thru another party coz they may speak things out of their own mind. If these are leaders of a church, then they probably are trying to give you a solution to your problem but they may not be the one whom God speaks to about you. God speaks to us thru the bible. His Words are true and when you believe, they will become real in your life. You may need to examine yourself thoroughly on why you've never felt the presence of God within you. Ask the right God for the infilling of the Holy Spirit, read the bible daily and believe it, deal with your past sins (if any) and ask God for sanctification and forgiveness. Once you've done the above, I don't see why you can't feel the presence of God within you if you obey His commands.

The Bible contains the written Word of God. As you read it, it is God speaking to you through those printed Words.

Thats o.k. Sometimes I believe it only matters what God thinks and as long as you pray to the one who matters and are a good person like would never hurt anything intentionally that is out of your human nature such as eating meat although it is also ok to have your own opinion and be a vegetarian or anything else you want to be as long as it is with in the standards of being a decent human being. You don't have to listen to anyone's opinion. They are just PEOPLE and that is their opinion. It is better to only believe what touches you.Be your own person. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Some people believe it, some don't. Try to live your life as if there might be a god out there, just in case. Doesn't mean you have to go to church or pray, just be nice to people and try to be a good person.

I've never heard the audible voice of God, but I have felt Him in my heart and seen His touch in my life.

Here's a lemon cookie, made it myself. Enjoy!
