Everytime I come here I only ask questions making sure or nearly sure that they are facts. I'm one of those who loves facts. Some people don't seem to (or want to) recognize what a fact is. It makes me want to cry sometimes when people make up things and make them seem factual.

I know you all want your opinions heard, so it's understandable, but please it'd be awesome if you all stopped making your opinions seem factual..You're making the meaning of what a fact is less meaningful..My question is not sarcastic or anything. It comes from my heart...

I don't think people just fabricate facts. What you are observing is just human nature. Everyone, regardless of belief, religious, political etc.. tend to gravitate to statements that support their particular belief and ignore anything that contradicts a preconceived idea.
Your question implies that you are young. After you have gained a lot of "life" experience you will realize that even facts are iffy as they can be manipulated to support almost anything thing you wish to believe.

This section is about religion and spirituality.
People relate subjective experiences and beliefs that are factual to them. Just because you do not agree with the experience or belief does not mean they are not factual or that they are made up. Trying to disprove these with people who have had them, based on what you believe to be contrary facts, does not change what they believe and have experienced. Immaterial or intangible aspects - such as love, faith, God, etc. are not easily proved or disproved by facts.

I suppose the reasons are varied. Some people simply parrot the things they have heard without even bothering to ascertain whether those things are true. Some like to mix a little bit of truth with a lot of untruth, pop it into the oven and see what happens. Others, either due to ignorance or indolence, just spit out whatever pops into their head without regard for anything else. Still others come to the table with preconceived notions and personal bias and post those rumors and outright errors which they feel support their already-existing bias. It justifies what they already believe.
For those who love facts and truth, it is disturbing, at the very least of it. But until those creative posters learn to appreciate the value of facts, they will continue to foster lies and innuendo. That is the way of things.

I see people giving opinions, and I see people giving facts. Normally if they are stating a fact, they say what the source is.
If you think that someones facts are not correct, question the person. Sitting there and crying is going to help......how?
That sounds rather silly and immature to me.

C.G., Unfortunately, it would be very hard for your wish to come true. Religion in this world is as diverse as it is. You have to understand that each and every person believes he IS correct. If a person thinks he is correct, then why would he prove himself wrong, when he doesn't even know it? Now please don't cry anymore and just accept that fact. It's not gonna change just for your sake. If you expect very hard of other people, you will only bring yourself frustration.

I agree with you. I often see not just opinions, but what I call "societal myths" presented as facts. Often, if these people would just do some minor research they'd find that something they've "heard" all their lives is in FACT false!

I'd like to see your question proven as a fact. I want evidence that MOST people on this section make up things.

Interesting how you are looking for facts in the R&S section.
There are no FACTS in religion. It is all man-made fiction.
Oh, wait, THAT is a fact! :) There you go.
