Hi! I'm 19 years old, I have 3 siblings (Ages 5,6 and 7!!).. they are pickey eaters in a way - and in another way, they are not.

For example, my brother (the 7 year old) LOVES vegetables! This little boy eats EVERY vegetable that you can think of (Even brussel sprouts). But, he wont eat any combination of vegetables IN something (if you mix vegetables with rice/pasta..he wants nothing to do with it)..he also enjoys all fruits

Or, my youngest brother (5) really dislikes most vegetables. this little boy lives off of grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, corn, macaronie and cheese, and plain noodles (He wont even touch tomato sauce)... but he DOES love fruit

My sister is a very STRANGE (rather than pickey) eater. She might LOVE chiken nuggets...beccuase all three kids love them - we make them for dinner sometimes - ... Mikayla (my sister) will refuse to eat them. (I tell her that i'm going to save it for later if shes hungry, but MOM usually gives in and lets her have bad snacks!!!

My question is...does anybody have any KID FRIENDLY recipies so that I can introduce more foods to their diets? Yes, its good that my older brother LOVES fruits and veggies... but, we're getting tired of making 2 dinners (Dinner for the kids, dinner for the grownups).. we'd like to reach a comprimise somehow.. and as for the 5 year old - hes always walking around with a bag of cheese doodles.. though he is underweight (Doctor knows..kids go for regular check-ups)...he should not be eating this kind of food. He should be eating foods with nutrients!!!

Any suggestions would be GREAT. - I've read through a few books, and looked at a few online articles...and I didnt really see anything I liked - I'm looking for some suggestions from somebodys "Personal expierence" if possible.

Thank you!!

I read that it can take up to 10 times before a child will accept a newly introduced food, so I guess it will take some time and patience on your part.
Firstly, you need to take away the 'rubbish' eating inbetween meals which makes them less hungry and therefore more picky about what they will eat.
Try to introduce things gradually and make a game of it... make the food into interesting shapes, or play a game of who is the bravest! If any of them are willing to try a new food they don't normally have then praise them and make a big fuss!
It will be a bit of a process but if you keep offering it to them and not giving in when they refuse to eat it, eventually you will make progress.

You are doing a wonderful thing to concern yourself with the health and eating habits of your siblings, and I hope your mother supports you.
It will be difficult, near impossible, if your mother continues to give in and give them bad snacks on demand.

Good luck!

First of all, if the bad snacks aren't in the house, no one can eat them. Second of all, it is your mother's responsibility to teach her children to make healthy choices.

I have a one year old and a six year old and I only cook one dinner. I have never made "kid food" on a regular basis. A dinner of chicken nuggets is a rare treat. As a result, I don't have picky eaters. My girls will eat anything with a few exceptions.

Here is one thing you can try, it worked for us. Fix their plates and give them ridiculously small amounts of each thing. Really, like only a bite of the vegetables, a bite of the meat. Tell them that after they eat each bite, they can stop eating or have seconds of anything but they must eat each bite. It can take seventeen tries for a kid to accept a food but most kids will eat most things. Okay, I never learned to like tomatos but nothing is fool proof.

Just remember, no child will voluntarily starve to death. If healthy choices are the only choices available, the child will learn to eat healthy.

rather the only issues he does not preserve are Francis Bacon, calamari and warm canines. he will luckily eat the rest. His favorites are grilled cheese with pickles, popcorn shrimp, chinese language ingredients, pasta salad and broccoli, candy peas and carrots. He merely loves those. He additionally likes notably spiced salsa with chips, black olives, green beans any way you restoration them, spinach, brussle sprouts, toddler lima beans, green or pink pepper strips, salad, cucmbers, little grape tomatoes, melon, cheese cubes, yogurt (the type you eat with a spoon.. i purchase it for me and he finally ends up eating it!), oatmeal or grits, broccoli cheese omlets, confusing boiled eggs, peanut butter with jelly, cranberries (strange yet he loves them greater effective than raisins!), wasabi snack mixture (back strange, yet he loves it!).... the checklist is going on... fortuitously he's not a choosy eater so it works nicely at meal circumstances or after we dine out (which isn't in many circumstances). he's an adventurous eater and could eat and attempt very almost something.
