This person certainly needs psychiatric help, but unless she is willing to accept that she has a problem and she voluntarily seeks help, you may have a challenge. If a person is a danger to herself or someone else she can be taken to the E.R,the doc there can place her on a form 1 under the Mental Health
.Act .meaning that she has to have a psychiatric evaluation
within 72 hours. She will be kept in a psychiatric ward during this time.If after the evaluation the psychiatrist deems her still a danger to herself and others she will be placed on a Form 3 ..to remain in hospital for 2 weeks ..during this time she will not be able to sign out AMA against medical adviceUsually
after 2 or more weeks in hospital with proper medication and therapy, the patient should be out of danger to herself and others, thus being discharged from the hospital She will need on going help by the medical profession.once discharged Check with Public Health Department in your area for Community help.A mental health nurse will do homevisit ,educate her on the illness and monitor her medication for side-effects.It s not an easy task ,to take care of your friend ,but then" thats what friends are for." Good Luck

Sadly, she won't be able to get help unless she realizes she needs it. You can do anything you want, however, if she does not realize that anything is wrong, then it will do no good. It is sad.
I personally went 3+ years suffering depression, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts/tendancies, anxiety. Until, I finally realized something was wrong last year. No matter how many times my mom took me to the hospital to be admitted, I wouldn't. I refused any help that was offered since I thought I was fine. I thought everyone else had the problems. But, I finally realized (somehow) that I had a problem and I was sick.
You have to protect the ones around you and keep doing what you are doing. She has to do this in her own time. Try talking to her. Ask her if she hears/sees things, or how she feels mentally. Just be a friend, you never know, it might help.

You can report the situation...especially since she's trying to take babies...you can do some sort of restraint for that...I forget to who...but a few phone calls will tell you quickly.

At some point, you may have to let go and walk away. Is it worth trying to 'help' someone who may harm you, your family...etc. Horrible to say but you mention she signs herself out of hospitals..etc. so anyone that is supporting her behavior will be effected..what if she kills a dog, her mother or a CHILD. You need to protect yourself and not feel guilty. By sticking around and beind co-dependant of her, you're helping with the problem. I'd politely let neighbors around her know...for their own protection as well.

You can't MAKE someone get help that DOESN'T WANT IT!

Hello Purple lady. It is important that he/she gets professional help. It sound to me that he must be suffering from schizophrenia or psychosis. A year ago I had symptoms of wanting to harm others. The doctor explained to me that I had an imbalance in brain neurotrasmiters. He gave me an antipsychotic drug (Zyprexa) and this symptoms diminish. Right now I have a pretty normal life. Doing research I found that the spiritual explanation is that the person has a spirit attached that causes him to harm others. Might sound strange but I believe it. With medication your friend could accomplish to get better. My prayers are with you. Argentox2@yahoo.com

If you can prove that this person is mentally ill and dangerous, you might be able to get the babies out of harms way. Other than that you can't do much unless she is willing to get help.

contact the court house and/or police department to see how you can sign the person up for an involuntary psych evaluation. Call you local hospital, ask to speak with behavioral department, ask RN on duty what her suggestions might be.

Don't get yourself in a dangerous situation with her. Be careful. Contact the court house or something and tell them what has been going on.
