You need to eat a small low gi, even a bowl of porridge an hour before you go to the gym, so it doesn't leave you starving. Obviously don't eat a huge bowl as exercising on a full stomach isn't good, but a slow release carb will help reduce the hungar pangs. What you're actually doing is getting into a cycle of rewarding yourself for being good, (ie, have just worked off 500 cals, therefore i can treat myself) so plan ahead. Rather than go straight home to the fridge, meet a friend for a coffee, go shopping or to the cinema. If you don't pick but plan a healthy meal. Cut your portions like The Diet Plate suggests, it is an easy way to lose weight but teaches you balanced eating and automatically your diet seems to get healthier immediately. Don't cut out meals though and never crash diet or you will start to yo yo and once that happens it is difficult to reverse.

Make sure to drink 4 liters of water each day, sometimes your body feels hungry but it's dyhydrated ( only problem is you go to the bathroom a lot more) and more sleep, this will keep you from eating.

Eat at regular times in the day and switch over to healthier choices, like if you eat a donut in the morning try grain cereals, the advertisement against carbohydrates concerning complex carbs ( grains) is ridiculous since it keeps you going longer and less hungry although not as flavourful. Also when cooking try and transition from butter to olive oil ( butter is first of all not good for you but olive oil has a lot good healthy calories for you and keep you going longer without more food).

Those are my tips... Don't stop eating or you'll end up putting on more weight when you start to eat more.

Oooo tough one!

We as humans have this problem that we need to see instant results.. people think that by dieting by one day they should see themselves lose pounds and pounds. Reality has it that it takes patience, perseverance, and committment to actually see a change. So many people (me included) think i'll go on a diet and then within a week don't see a major difference and think "stuff it" and end up feeling.. oh it's not gonna matter so let's just eat to make myself feel better!

The thing with exercise is that it makes you feel good and think "ooo i'm fitter".. but then you go a celebrate with a pizza! The way to think about it is.. think exercise is helping you lose weight and everything you eat is just ruining that...

Try drinking lots of water... if you're hungry eat a banana or some fruit. If you struggle with temptation, remove what is tempting you - that always helps! Don't make it harder than it has to be.. i guess it depends on how serious you are about losing weight...

If eating biscuits is second nature to you, then don't put biscuits in the cupboard... and WANT to eat something else... psychologically tell yourself that they will make you fat.. you need to FEEL thin...

Sorry i rambled, but i hope it helps! Good luck and don't give up friendo!

OK, we are in the same boat. I just looove food. But I am also trying to loose weight, so what I can recommend to you is to have a food diary and write down everything you eat during a day. Once you have it in front of you, you will notice how much little stuff we gorge down. This will definetely put you off eating too much. If you join a diet forum and post your diary on a website or blog, you wil have feedback from other people and it will help you a lot.
I am not for WW or so, although I believe they are good, as you have other people around you, it is just the money and you can set yourself weekly goals and post them in your blog aswell. Also, if you are trying to loose weight, make a graph of your weightloss and stick to it, you soon will see how the graph goes down and you won't want it to go up again.
Good luck!

To stop eating that much, try replacing all non-healthy food like bread(It may be good for you but the carbs are not), junk food, ice cream, ect. Replace these foods with healthy alternatives such as fruits and vegetables.

It may seem like a stretch so try taking baby steps. Next time you go food shopping don't buy junk food or reduce the amount of bread you buy. Buy a variety of fruits and vegetables. By snacking out on healthy stuff you'll begin to lose weight and feel alot better and more energetic.

I have the same problem-try to find a diversion for yourself, like a hobby or a sport that you can share with a friend. The more time you spend around other people, the less you "pig out" when you're home alone.

i'm not going to encourage you to 'stop eating' as that would be silly; but there's one little giveaway word in your question. Biscuits! Just don't buy biscuits! Don't have them in the house. Or anything else that's fatty, fattening and generally unnutritious. But don't stop eating altogether - just make sure what you eat is nutritious then you can eat plenty of it.
