I'm 10 and I want to start baby-sitting and my sister is 12 and she baby-sits, but she took a course from the red cross.

My sister only babysits for the neghrbors and only when my parenrs r home.

well my mom only let ten year olds babysit if they were just making a quick stop at the store and the only time she let her really babysit was when she was with her older sister who was fifteen so maybe 13 or 14

I would say 13 is the youngest and only if they live in the neighborhood and the girls parents are home. It also depends on the age of the kids being watched. My kids are 10 now and pretty much know what to do but still I wouldn't let them stay home on their own, so a 13 year old babysitter is good for them but I don't think I would leave an infant with a girl this age.

I would say the ideal age is 13 years old. Perhaps 12 if you are very mature and responsible. I don't think a 12 year old should stay home alone with a child younger than 5.

I think the best age to start babysitting is 15.I know its five years from now but you will be responsible enough and you will know how to handle a emergency.And maybe your sister should wait a little longer too.I mean what if noneone`s around and something happens and has to take the baby to the hospital what will you do?

I started at 12, I'm 14 now, you should wait a few years, not many parents will want someone as young as 10 watching their kids, I had a little trouble at 12, so just wait a few years

Some states have laws against children under 12 babysitter neighbors and unfamily members. I would say if it is not against the law in your state take a course and start babysitting at around 11 years old of whenever you are comfortable. MAKE SURE YOU ONLY BABYSIT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

i say 15 I'm 11 i do want 2 babysit but my mom told me i have 2 wait till I'm at least 15

maybe you should try and take the same course, so you can be prepared when you do get ready to babysit. dont be in a rush, you may get some really bad kids!! good luck

Whatever the minimum age is to take the Red Cross class in your area. Here, it's 11. Take it, and then you can babysit.
