there is never a bin around so we have to take rubbish home most of the time, also when going into town or anywhere there is never a public toilet when you need one

Thats evidence of an INCOMPETENT council..cuts cuts cuts...

Have you also noticed that there are LESS free car parks in a town....?

Also, have you noticed that the COUNCIL expenditure is ALWAYS going UP on internal spending?

When there are litter bins they are not used by everybody as there is such a lot of litter all over the place. Those bins that are used are not emptied often enough so the rubbish spills over and makes a total mess. It is far better that we are all responsible for our own litter and taking it home is not much of a chore. I was at an open air public meeting in Switzerland at which there were around 600 people, all standing and most had with them some form of refreshment. After over an hour the meeting was closed and all the people dispersed. When the area was deserted there was not one single piece of litter. The cost to the town for clearing up was nothing. That can only be a good thing as money is saved. As for the lack of toilets, when abroad in EUROPE there are not very many of them so you wait until you go into a shop or cafe and use the facilities provided. Also usually much cleaner. I do not include those open toilets now found only on the French motorways.

The litter bins have been removed at the request of the police - it's just one place less to check in the event of a bomb scare.
As for public toilets - thanks to all the yobs and vandals, they've been priced out of business - that's why those same yobs and vandals now get arrested when they think that they can use anywhere as if it were a toilet when the pubs turn out whereas, if they and their mates/children hadn't vandalised the toilets in the first place, there wouldn't be this problem. One man and one woman could clean and keep any number of toilets in good order in a reasonable sized town, but neither they nor the councils could cope with the "demolition squads"! ! !

I have realised that too. As if public toilets aren't filthy enough, without having anywhere to put your rubbish. I suppose it's just precautions incase anyone tries to put a bomb where I would like to put my tampons.
