Whenever he's around, it makes me sick. I can't talk to him directly about this problem but it has been going on for months and we still haven't told him. Yes our car smells funky right now. Any suggestions?

He's our driver. I can't give him hugs. That's disgusting.

Offer him a breathmint when he's around. Or maybe talk to him about toothpastes or mouthwashes. & how they help with bad breaths lol. He'll get the hint.

Bring up the subject of bad breath. Maybe by mentioning someone else, like Mom or Dad having it. Then say, I sure am glad they finally figured out they had bad breath and did something about it because people can be repulsed by bad breath. Maybe this will make him think and take the hint. After this if he doesn't do anything, just say,"Remember when I was talking about bad breath. Well, as your friend, I think you should know that you have it also, and maybe you don't know it. So, you should fix the problem before you lose some of your friends."

Take him aside, privately, and ask if he has seen a dentist lately. Tell him you noticed his breath is sour and he may have an abcess or some bacteria or infection starting. Tell him you know that most people may not be able to pick up on that as they are used to the smell of their breath. I'm a nurse aide, and wow, lots of people have this problem, and usually because something is going on in their mouth. They are usually are not aware of this, but being kind and private about this with him...he'll appreciate that you cared and if approached in a considerate way, I'm sure he'll do something to take care of it. How mortifying it is to offen others with body odors!

If he really doesn't take the hint, sit him down somewhere private, so no one overhears. Tell him that you don't want to hurt his feelings, but he has bad breath and it's unpleasant. Give him some advice about oral hygene and mints. Then give him a big hug so he knows your trying to help and not just having a go at him. I know if i had bad breath, i'd rather someone told me about it. Good luck :-)

Offer them Tick-Tack or mints .
u can also take him by the side and tell him in a very gentle way and with a face like ur truly concerned that u think he has a teeth problem and he should go check with the dentist cuz u've noticed that he has a bad breath

The direct way is the best. No need to get offensive though. Just tell him in a straight forward and matter of fact way.

For example: 'John, there is a problem that I need to address to you. You seem to have bad breath. You need to check with your doctor to make sure that it is not a sign of something serious. Meanwhile, brush your teeth often and use a strong mouthwash!'

Good Luck!

best way I think is for you yourself to use breathmints in front of him and offer him one and sort of jokingly tell him "you really need it" in like a sarcastic tone or maybe when you're talking to him alone say something to him like "I really hate it when my breath stinks so I always keep mints with me". But honestly that's only a temporary solution - if he really has bad breath it could be from bacteria in his mouth - he should be brushing his teeth and maybe using mouthwash regularly. If all else fails how about an anonymous note? just make sure he can't find out it's you!

When in the car take out gum or a mint and you take one and then give him one. Ask if he is on a special diet and then tell him you thought that because of his breath and maybe he is in ketosis. Like on a carbohydrate restricted diet. Diabetics can also be in ketosis and this is dangerous for them. Bring it up like a health issue and not a hygene issue. He will be touched by your concern for his health.

Well, before you enter the car first, make sure you spray lysol. ;) Now, about telling him about his bad breath, why not give him toothbrush, mouth wash and floss for a gift? Maybe he doesn't have any of those that's why he has a bad breath. He'll get the message through the gift.

I think you will have to tell him to in a proper and gentle way, so as not to offend him.

You can emphasize on his tooth instead of the smell.

Just mention that he may have some problem with his teeth as it smells. And he's got to go to the dentist before more damage is done to his teeth.

I do think that sounds better.
