I'd agree of course, and go further: humans are a species of Great Ape as well.

A chimpanzee's closest non-chimp relatives are humans. Closer than gorillas or orangutangs. To have a family of "Great Apes" that doesn't include humans is like saying my second and third cousins are part of my family, but not my first cousins.

I think the thing about this that offends some uneducated people is that it has been stated that our closest living relative is the Chimpanzee. There are two main species of Elephant still around today, what is one of their closest living relatives? It would be the Manatee, or down here in Aus, the Dugong. Elephants have feet, don't they? Did you know that a close relative to the common domestic dog is the family of seals.

To put it another way, a Chev is not a Ford, but they are both cars,,,, right?

We are classified as higher primates, that does not mean that we evolved from chimps, just that we are related. I believe that with Darwins Theory we can see that we like the Elephant and the manatee, evolved along similar but very different lines. We are the same as much as we are nothing alike.

Confused yet?

Humans are the highest order of mammals. however, many people think of primates as merely apes and monkeys and I choose not to group myself with apes and monkeys because I don't believe in the theory of evolution.

You could believe that you're not a primate, and instead believe that you are in fact a fungus or an insect. It's a free world. You wouldn't be able to function in normal society with a lot of rubbish beliefs, though. You would have to start a cult.

If I was not a Primate I would have to be some lower species, as primate is at the top of the pecking order. So I would say yes..... Wait!. wait!.. Ah yes I'm a Primate.

If I was not a primate, I would not be a human. It is like saying "do you believe you are not an animal" of course I am an animal. What do you think I am fungi?

Naturally not believing would not change my biological origins.

A mere definition. Pry from an evolutionist, its all monkey business to me, really.

THIS definition EVEN STILL does NOT reconcile myself, being not ape, to the ape.

Why do push evolution as tho' it were gospel? Why does it matter so much that you deny the same Jesus who died for you? You don't know HIM yet, but you WILL.

Good luck with all that evolution business, I will in the meantime thank my CREATOR for breathing LIFE into my being.
GO JESUS< its ya birthday, we gonna party, ,like its ya birthday!!!

As being in a subcatagory, yes.

Humans may be mammals and can be subcatagorized, because we use our hands and walk on two feet, but we are not animals.

We are higher than animals and as Paul put it, 'a little lower than angels'.

God originally gave us dominion over the animals. Doesn't that show you we are higher than they are?

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them: and God said unto them, -----have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Heb 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; Thou crownedst him with glory and honor, And didst set him over the works of thy hands:
