Swollen fingers and warm to touch?

My index and middle finger were swollen last night, but are fine now. They have been hurting a little for the past week. What could it be?

Swelling and warmth indicates infection, I would suggest you see a doctor

The warmth is your body trying to kill an infection and the swelling is you body flooding the area with blood so that it can kill bacteria. You should probably see a doctor if it is so bad that it has spread to several fingers. It probably isn''t serious but you don't want it to get worse.
