Some people will say that because I do not support our troops in Iraq, that I am supporting terrorism. I would like to hear some opinions on this... The terrorists that were responsible for the only large scale attacks on American soil were overwhelmingly Saudi Arabian, operating out of Afhganistan, with NO TIES TO IRAQ. The purpose for the war in Iraq was never to combat terrorism. It was to eliminate the threat of WMD's. Mission accomplished from the get go. Why are we still there? How did all this get tied up with terrorism in the minds of the American People? Before you even think of saying they would have or they might have supported terrorism in Iraq, keep in mind that the same is true for most of the middle east. Should we bomb the entire region? Are there tens of thousands or terrorists there? I'd really like to hear a compelling conservative argument that isn't based on fear or hate. Convince me that we aren't the terrorists please. I'll best a righty if you can.

Leogurl Alot of the reasons that support for the war was so widespread were based on emotion and misleading or just plain incorrect information. You did not even show that you attemtped to answer my question so i'll put it in one line for you. Why do the American people often associate the Iraq war with terrorism?
SGT I cannot help but have a great respect for you based on your words and your point of view. However I do not retract my opinion on not supporting the soldiers in Iraq. The Soldiers who are there joined the military with the knowledge that they may someday be forced to fight. While i have the utmost respect for them and I acknowledge your bravery and your honor. I do not and will not however support human beings willingly killing one another, especially for reasons they don't believe in. You are on the track to being bested though. Good answer

I can understand your oposition to the war. That's fine, but there are two problems that I see. One, the troops do what they are told to do. We volunteered to serve our country and go where the commander in chief sends us. We don't have a choice. Some of the troops agree with your stance and don't want to be there. But they are. And I believe they all deserve your support. If you have never served, I am sure you will never understand that you have not only a moral obligation to your country but to your brothers in arms. If you refuse to fight and back out, then you are leaving the men and woman next to you vulnerable; that’s unacceptable.
As far as why we are still there? How many people do you think will die if we pull out? I promise you it will be an ethnic cleansing like the world has seen only in places like Cambodia, Serbia, and Germany.
If you want to pull out now before we add some stability then fine. We will take the credit for going into Iraq and causing a lot of unnecessary deaths just as long as you take the credit for leaving Iraq and causing the same.

It's good see all the Monday Morning Quarterbacks still talking about this issue. Since 1991 the World thought Iraq had WMD. People tend to forget that the Democrats kept a presence in the region for over 12 years before Bush Ever showed up. The mission was simple: Since we were going after Afghanistan, why not finish that mission too? We removed Saddam from power, proved there are no WMD, and facilitated a new government forming. I think all of us would like to just walk out...but then we would all be answering questions to the world about why we left an unstable situation and so on and so on.
As for the troops, Grow up! They do not get to pick and choose the war they will serve in. Based on your argument, I guess you have a problem with police officers too. Afterall, they sign up to chase people around, put them in handcuffs, and shoot to kill if they have to. What about prison guards? They sign up to keep people in cages!!! How cruel is that? People in the military do not sign up to kill people. They sign up to serve the country as a deterrent in case they are needed. It just so happens that right now....they are needed. Serving in the military is much more than just to kill people. I'm glad to see you enjoying the freedom and security that someone somewhere probably fought for. The foundation of this country is not built on 4 years in Iraq, but over 250 years perserving something bigger than you are. So, if you don't like it, I invite you go live someplace else!

So I'm guessing that the fact that you are so detailed on the "happenings" in the middle east is no coincidence. Are you a terrorrist? Have you ever been out of your cave? Have you ever been to the middle east? Are you even Arabic? Do you know the sentiments felt over there in Iraq? or the whole middle east? if you dont support the troops nor the war what is it that you do support you traitor? I hope that when ever you need help a soldier is there, and guess what even if the soldier knew how you felt, he would still lend a helping hand. Thank you for practicing what we fight for.....FREEDOM

to quote the speech from Ron Paul interior the link under: "What if some day it dawns on us that dropping over 5,000 American militia workers interior the middle East in view that 9/11 isn't a honest commerce off for the lack of ability of almost 3,000 American civilians, no count number what number Iraqi, Pakistani and Afghan persons are killed or displaced? What if occupying international locations like Iraq and Afghanistan and bombing Pakistan is straight away relating to the hatred directed in direction of us? .......What no count number if it is finally realised that conflict and militia spending is often unfavourable to the economic equipment? What if all wartime spending is paid for interior the direction of the deceitful and evil technique of inflating and borrowing? .......What if the yank people woke up and understood that the coolest 'motives' for going to conflict are almost constantly in line with LIES and promoted via conflict propaganda with the intention to serve particular pastimes? .......What if Obama has no objective of leaving Iraq? What if a militia draft is being deliberate for, for the wars which will unfold if our distant places coverage isn't replaced? What if the yank people discovered the reality, that our distant places coverage has no longer something to do with national protection, and that it by no ability modifications from one administration to the subsequent? What if conflict and education for conflict is a racket, serving the particular interest? What if Christianity actual teaches PEACE, and not 'preventative' wars of agression? What if international family members is chanced directly to be more advantageous to bombs and bribes in retaining us of a of america?......" Now it extremely is a genuine American Patriot! As for my own opinion, the conflict for Iraq became already deliberate and the particular interest communities have been only fishing around for an excuse to attack. it is going to by no ability have happened, and has been a tragic and undesirable waste of existence.

The people equate the war in Iraq with terrorism because Bush has spent the last five years calling it the War on Terrorism. It's a variation of Hitler's "Big Lie" propaganda tactic. Tell a big enough lie and repeat it loudly and often enough, it will blot out the truth. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, they had no WMDs, and they posed no clear threat to the United States, and we had intelligence reports to that effect at the time. Bush simply lied at the top of his lungs until people accepted what he was saying in contradiction of all the evidence. Goebbels, Hitler's Chief of Propaganda, defined the principles quite clearly: 1. You need to define an enemy on whom you can blame the peoples problems and present as a threat, for Hitler it was Jews, for Bush it is Islamics; 2. You need to link support of the leadership with support of the troops so that any dissenters can be dismissed as unpatriotic, if not traitorous, an attitude you see constantly in this forum. Both Hitler and Bush, as well as Stalin and Mao, also instituted policies of spying on their citizens, arrest and searches without warrants, denial of legal counsel, and imprisonment without trial, as well as condoning the use of torture. The reason we aren't the terrorist is that our law enforcement and military are committing no crimes, how could they be, they are only following orders.

Germany had twice the death rate per 1,000 of Iraq in 2006 according to the online CIA fact book.
Iraq was an ongoing issue with Saddam failing to fully surrender after the first Gulf War. It had nothing to do with the terrorist attack on the world trade center and everything to do with Clinton not being in office. If Clinton didn't win, it would have been George Bush Sr. that would have finished the job.

So are over 3,000 Americans and thousands of others around the world all killed by the practitioners of the "peaceful religion of Islam". Iraq is one battle in a War on Islamic Terrorism.
America is a beckon of liberty and freedom to millions of people around the world. It is easy to pass judgment on the leader of the free world. We are no doubt far from perfect both at home and abroad but no one else is going to protect us from those that wish ill upon us. We will continue to make mistakes but if we fail to take the initiative in defending our freedoms we will be doomed.
If you are an American and you fail to see the opportunity and freedoms you have you are a failure. If you are so busy denouncing our mistakes and speaking ill of every misstep... you're welcome you are practicing a freedom most have never known and never will. The ability to speak your mind in the venue you choose is a glorious example of the freedoms we have. Is that Terrorism? I think not.

Victory is conflict resolution, and right now we are securing the victory. Enough will be enough when the Iraqi government takes complete control for their national security. Don't kid yourself into believing that the dying will stop when the US leaves Iraq. I don't expect you to be able to stomach that. Not everyone has the constitution for dealing directly with challenges.
Clearly you would not stand up to defend another nation. Would you at least defend your own?
