well he was soooo eager to get my number and to ask me out, however he canceled our first two dates cos the first time he worked late and the secont time he was busy...

You should not give him another chance. Early in the relationship, both people are generally trying to focus on the other person and impress them. If he can't even make the time that he is supposed to spend with you a priority in his life during this period, you have no shot at getting him to pay attention to you later on. Unless he is a Doctor, Police Officer, or some other profession that is on call constantly and this is the reason for the last minute cancellations, you should cut your losses and look for someone who is more attentive.

If i were you... i just go and surprise him if he works late.. get him some takeaways and appear at his workplace.. and yeah... then go with the flow... a date is about the quality time you spend with him, having a good convy while he drives you home can be a date too.... *smilez* he be genuinely touched i bet... unless you caught him lying or having another girl... then you be genuinely pissed off,.... Trust me, if he keeps asking you out, he's most likely not making up reasons he can't be with you...
If i was in his situation, i would feel really bad because I would feel like i was annoying you by keep on doing it. Just let him know that he's not being annoying and that if he found a time that would work, that would be great!!!

be true to yourself..if u are sure of being serious in a relationship with him,get on with it,give him a little more chance.but if u're not into him,then just remain as friends or just give him some time to explain to you his situation..just be happy,dun be sad..=)

it does not bode well for any future relationship --- if he is not able to make time to see you at this early stage ---- even if he is not in another relationship --- then what would it be like if you started seeing each other --- i would suggest forgetting about him --- if he is not interested enough to meet you then he is not interested enough to have a worthwhile relationship with you --- best wishes
