im already very active.

i went from going to the gym every 2 or 3 days and working on weights for 1.5 hours and also aerobic exercise 1 or 2 hours.

now i am walking 10 miles 4x per week. that is about 2.5 hours. i am lifting weights only once or twice a week.

my goal is to become leaner. i feel i have a lot of muscles. maybe the muscles make me appear too curvy. i dont like it. i want to be lean.

i am 5'3 and 150 lbs and 30 yrs old. that sounds very heavy i know, except for you have to figure in that i lift a lot of weights, ie pretty much nothing jiggles.

i just want to get very lean.

im also trying to limit my food intake. i have limited it a lot.

But i am dissapointed because i have been staying the course for three weeks. i have not lost a pound!! do you think i have an illness? shouldnt i have lost at least a single pound????!!!

thanks.

Actually, muscle is active tissue and allows you to burn extra calories on a 24 hour per day basis. Decreasing your lean mass actually decreases your resting metabolic rate as estimated by the McArdle & Katch formula as follows:
BMR = 370 + (9.82 x lean mass in lbs)

Bottom line is preserve your lean mass (via weightlifting) if you want to burn more calories.

Also, nutrition is more important than both weight training and cardio combined. For example, a 150 lb person burns about 100 calories per mile regardless of the speed at which he/she runs or walks it. That is less than the calories in 1 tablespoon of oil.

It clearly explains why all of those miles and cutting down the weightlifting is not working.

Here are some links to a sample meal plan, a weekly workout, and info on fat loss. I sincerely hope that this helps.

Fats are nothing more than stored acid. If you continue to take acidic food, even with exercise you cannot get rid of fats. Therefore you must solve the weight problem at the source : eating acidic food. By taking alkaline food, you prevent the intake of acid to create more fats. Besides doing exercise, you must eat only alkaline food.

Read the book "pH miracle for weight loss". See photos of people losing weight at ease. If you want to loose weight super fast, there is an alkaline liquid diet. According the book, people are loosing 10 pounds or more within the first 8 days. Go to the website below to see which food (and even fruits) that are acidic.

Maybe the first question you should ask yourself is, "If my body is one that naturally moves towards muscular, would I be willing to make myself sick to get skinny?"

Most people who are muscular have a body type that doesn't easily go to thin without damaging their bodies. So, if looking like Kate Moss is better more important than being healthy, stop using weights, eat barely anything, keep doing aerobics until you pass out some day looking like a supermodel.

I hope it makes you happy...
