I am an American teaching English in Spain. My problem started out with a UTI, then I was untreated by the doctors here and they said it would pass, they said they dont like to give antibiotics for every little thing. I usually drink cranberry juice, and it goes away. Well this has been going on for 4 months now, and they recently found 2 kidney stones 5mm and 6mm. With socialized medicine the way it is, I have been in and out of doing blood and urine tests. Is there anything that I can do to help pass them quicker?? Please help thanks!!

Drink lots of filtered water every half an hour. Add fresh lemon juice (a quarter of a freshly cut lemon, not store bought lemon juice). Drink the liquid four or five times. Drinking lots of water everyday is one of the best ways to make sure there are no crystals building up in your kidneys. Aim to drink at least half your weight in ounces of water. Kidney stone removal is generally accomplished without any medical help. Most of the time, a person with kidney stones drinks gallons of water and suffers unspeakable pain until the kidney stone travels out of their body on its own

My friend always drinks a lot of cranberry juice and water throughout the day, and he has cut back on the calcium intake since kidney stones are calcium deposits. He doesn't drink many beverages with caffeine now, and all this combined has seemed to help him manage his kidney stone problems.

Indian food will help you get rid of your kidney stone as quick as in 15 weeks. If you are aware of Plantain (Banana) then go ahead - Cook any side dish out of Plantain Flower which falls down after the banana bunch is ripe. A side dish or soup made out of the stem of Plantain tree would also help. These two dishes are quite common and I cook these atleast once a week to avoid kidney / bladder stones in future. Avoid Tomatoes especially sour tomatoes are the main cause for kidney stones. Drink lot of barley water. and You can soak white oats ( 2 table spoons) in 500ml water in the night and stain it in the morning and drink this water in empty stomach every morning. but nothing helps as fast as the soup of plantain stem with a bit of salt and pepper to taste.

Kidney stones are build up of calcium. When there is too much calcium in your blood your kidney filters them out. While waiting for you to urinate they build up and stick together. I suggest you reduce your calcium intake. Drink less milk or whatever calcium sources you take. Also take in less vitamin D. Vitamin D makes 80% of calcium absorb into the blood stream after a meal. You naturally get vitamin D from sunlight. Drink a lot of water to dilute the calcium both in your blood and your kidneys.
So:
1) Drink lots of water
2) Reduce calcium intake
3) Less sunlight.

5mm and 6mm seem pretty big to be passing. They need to give you one of those drugs that disolve them of use shock waves to break them up enough to pass. Kidney stones hurt baaad so I would threaten to beat them with a stick if they don't do something now.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
