I'm living proof that it is.

I suspect that you really mean ' ... without believing in any god at all'.
If so, of course.
Aside from the obvious answer of "Hi - here I am!", being an atheist (strong and committed version) for the last 53 years, there are those who either still do or certainly used to live in total ignorance of any current god, created by the 'modern' world. However, in the distant past, man has always needed a protector or father-figure that they could turn to and they just made up any old image as being an appropriate one.
Then again, this is 2007 and mankind should by now have reached a state where education has eliminated the need for an imaginary friend. Sadly, there are far too many gullible people out there who still cling to the false promises, just because someone taught them so at an impressionable age. Very sad.
Finally, despite what anyone says, even a rather silly court somewhere, atheism is not a religion. N-O-T. It is more a chosen way of life?

You can live any way you want to live. You have the right as a human being to think what you want to think and believe what you want to believe.
If you need a higher being to make you feel secure and to give you happiness, then be religious. If you just need yourself - even easier.
The truth is, the most important thing is to be a happy, kind person. Anything that helps you get there - whether it be the presence or lack of religion - is important.
Good luck!

Yes. People live without believing in religion but perhaps they have a belief in God. You don't need religion to believe that Jesus is the messiah; you just need faith.

I'm an Atheist and I am living just fine without religion. I have no need for fear and control from imaginary supernatural beings or the guilt trips of psychic vampires. I do not live my life cowtowing to bronze age fairy tales written by sociopaths as justification for their brutality.

Of course you can leave without religion. It will just be a meaningless life. There will not be a greater purpose in life. We all need to be part of something bigger than ourselves and doing something for a greater good. Without religion, I think that you don't have that.

Atheists say that they are very happy but, are they truly happy? People say that they can live wonderful lives without religion or God. If there was no religion or rules, killing would be OK. Theft, rape, lying and all other wrong and dreadful things would be OK. Think of what kind of life that would be. Rules are important and religion gives the ultimate rules...

Yes I am still breathing , I believe in a higher power. Is that considered religious? I do not believe however that one religion has the yellow brick road to the land of Oz.

I don't have a religion. I am non-denominational. I believe in God but I think that organized religion has it all wrong. Plus I don't think that I should have to make "donations" and give a % of my paycheck to a church when Jesus preached for free. It is all so ridiculous anymore. Can't you just believe in God, believe that people should treat each other with kindness, read your bible, and not do any judging? Is that so hard. Why all of the drama?

Thanks be to all of the atheists who gave thumbs down to not only myself but every other religious person who answered the question. Just because we don't believe what you believe doesn't make us wrong.

Yes. Many people believe in God but do not attach themselves to any formal religion. Many people do not believe in God and do not attach themselves to any religion either.

There are many atheists on this forum. Their "religion" is their lack of one.

It is very possible, and many do.

Some truly have never expressed any desire to believe in a higher power, others have contemplated it and dismissed it.

It's quite easy. What makes you think anyone needs religion? Religion is imposed on the people (by parents, teachers, preachers), only very few people would pick up a religious belief just on their own.
