Scatter his dinner over a cookie sheet or even the floor. or drop some tennis balls, rocks, or kongs in his dinner dish for him to have to eat around.

the only possible way to slow it down is that you gotta sit with him and have the bowl in hand. put a little food at a time and put the bowl down carefully, at the same time say "slowly!" loud and clear. if he gets at really fast dont scold him, jus take the bowl away. put more food in it alittle bit and do the same thing. Its training so it takes time. Im glad ur looking at this because he can really choke speacialy on kibbles..
i hope the best for u

Yes! My puppy wolfs down his food, so we put his meal into a KONG TOY (they are those red, holly rubber toys that come in many different sizes). It takes him a good 5-10 minutes to get all of the food out and it gives them mental stimulation at the same time. Just make sure you get a size that he can't put his whole snout into. Hope this helps!

Steroids cause an increase in appetite (usually dramatic) and weight gain. He is going to eat like a maniac, but most dogs eat as quickly as possible anyways. In nature when a pack makes a kill they eat immediately. the dog that eats slowly would get a very small amount indeed, and it is a survival mechanism to eat quickly. i really doubt your Jack will suffer for his enthusiasm!

If it is dried food you are feeding, then you could put it in a bordem ball. These are large balls which you fill with the food and they have small openings, so as the ball is rolled around by your dog, the food falls out.
