What is the or where does the jurisdiction of a Munucipal(town) traffic Officer stops?
Are they allowed to put speed traps up outside the towns boundaries>?
Found one 20Km outside town catching people with a camera and then sends them the fine through the post.
I think this is elligal.

If they are outside their jurisdiction then they do not have the authority. If they are having the violation registered through "the post" (State Police?) then it will probably hold up.

Most agencies have mutual aid agreements. Meaning each agency can help the others. This is designed for officers to be able to assist each other, regardless of jurisdiction, in a major event. If there is a shooting or something serious no one will care what uniform they are wearing. With a mutual aid agreement the officer assisting operates under the authority of the agency or officer asking for their assistance. If the State Police/Troopers asked the local police to help with speeders then they are operating under their authority.

Make sure you know where the town's boundaries are, which municipality owns the camera, and whether the neighboring municipality has a reciprocity agreement that allows enforcement in the next town.

You may find its perfectly legal. Otherwise, fight it.

A city officer authority ends at the city limit, unless that officer is also authorised by the county.

If he is filming people who are speeding within the city limits, then he is ok, since he is catching them in his area.
He does not have to be in it for the "stop" he merely needs to see them breaking the law within his area of authority.

If you get a traffic ticket and you feel it`s illegal, go to traffic court and contest it. Make sure you`re well prepared to answer all questions, why you think it`s illegal.

If it were really illegal, do you actually believe the police would be doing it???
